[What the role is]
Research Engineer[What you will be working on]
• Collaborate with the Project Leader to execute the MOE-TIF project on AI-driven optimization of aeroponic systems.
• Manage and operate aeroponic cultivation systems for leafy vegetables and high-value fruiting crops.
• Design and conduct experiments to investigate plant physiological responses under different spray regimes and nutrient formulations.
• Monitor plant growth parameters, nutrient uptake efficiency, and environmental conditions to support AI model training.
• Plan and execute experiments, prepare progress reports, and provide regular updates on project milestones.
• Assist in system installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and modification of aeroponic equipment.
• Document experimental data, analyse results, and contribute to project reports and publications.
• Coordinate with industrial collaborators and support pilot testing at partner farm sites.
• Manage procurement processes, including liaising with vendors, sourcing materials, equipment, and testing supplies, and raising purchase requests.
• Document and track project issues, expenses, budget, action logs, and equipment maintenance.
• Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Project Leader.
[What we are looking for]
• Relevant qualification in Agricultural Science, Food Science, Horticulture, Plant Science, Agricultural Engineering, Biotechnology, or related disciplines.
• Hands-on experience in urban agriculture cultivation, plant nutrition management, and controlled environment agriculture systems.
• Experience in operating cultivation equipment and designing controlled experiments.
• Ability to work effectively in a team and follow project timelines and operational arrangements.
• Proven ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks with a strong sense of responsibility to meet project milestones.
• Candidates from related industries who are interested in transitioning into aeroponic and smart urban agriculture are encouraged to apply.
• Successful candidates will be employed on a contract basis for two year duration of the project.
