Bring history to life - one landscape at a time!

At The Preservation Society of Newport County, you’ll help care for and showcase 13 of Newport’s most iconic historic properties and landscapes. As the Gardens & Landscapes Crew Leader, you’ll lead a hands-on seasonal team in maintaining beautiful, welcoming grounds. This is a working leadership role for someone who loves the outdoors, takes pride in craftsmanship, and enjoys guiding a team. You’ll plan daily work, operate equipment, maintain lawns and gardens, support seasonal staff, and collaborate to ensure every property meets our high standards for appearance, safety, and care.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Lead and supervise a seasonal crew of 5–10 grounds staff
• Maintain lawns, gardens, trees, walkways, and drainage systems
• Operate and maintain landscaping equipment (mowers, tractors, snow removal tools)
• Assist with planting, pruning, seasonal clean-ups, and snow/ice control
• Promote a safe, productive, and team-oriented work environment

Requirements

WHAT YOU BRING

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of groundskeeping or landscaping experience preferred
• Valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors in all weather
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate power equipment
