Fabrication Machinist – Night Shift (Saw Operator Focus)
Job Title: Fabrication Machinist – Night Shift (Saw Operator Focus)
Department: Fabrication/Production
Reports To: Fabrication Supervisor
Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary:
The Fabrication Machinist – Night Shift is responsible for supporting fabrication operations with a primary focus on saw operation and material preparation. This role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to support multiple areas of fabrication as needed. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-minded, and committed to maintaining production flow during night shift operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate fabrication saw equipment to cut raw materials according to specifications
- Measure, mark, and verify materials using tape measures and other measuring tools
- Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and cut lists
- Inspect cut materials for accuracy and quality
- Support other fabrication processes as needed, including material handling, drilling, and press brake support
- Assist with material staging and movement throughout production
- Monitor equipment performance and report maintenance or safety concerns
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all PPE requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned, which may include occasional travel
Qualifications:
- Previous saw operation or fabrication experience preferred
- Ability to read blueprints, work orders, and shop drawings
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately
- Willingness to be cross-trained in multiple areas
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently during night shift hours
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform frequent bending, lifting, and movement
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 80+ lbs
- Manual dexterity required to operate machinery, tools, and measuring equipment
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with temperatures that vary seasonally
Work Schedule:
Full-time, night shift. Overtime may be required based on production demands.
