Transportation Specialist

Description

The Transportation Specialist position reviews the company’s transportation requirements and coordinates internally and externally, to assure the customers’ needs and transportation objectives are met. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties as assigned.)

Serves as the primary interface to transportation activities with focus on inbound shipments. 

Develops, maintains, and reviews pertinent reports. 

Serves as primary interface between shipper and freight carriers. 

Suggest solutions and actions where and when necessary to meet established objectives. Optimizes freight costs by ensuring appropriate carriers are selected. 

Continually assesses transportation operations and suggests means for improving quality, efficiencies, and costs. 

Creates inbound and outbound freight schedules in conjunction with freight carriers and shipping coordinators to meet established objectives. 

Completes freight estimates, freight claims, and customer returns are being processed in a timely and efficient manner. Continually evaluates new carriers to ensure Netafim receives the balance of cost, services, and quality. 

Reviews, reports, and suggests courses of action. 

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS include the following.

High school diploma or equivalent, minimum of 3 years related experience

APICS certifications preferred and or TMS experience

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or equivalent, minimum of 3 years related experience

APICS certifications preferred and or TMS experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Fluent in English

Spanish Speaking a plus

SKILLS

Distribution/ warehouse operations – Understand storage, handing, packaging, preservation, and delivery systems and functions. SAP – A working knowledge of WM and a basic understanding of SD and how they interface. The ability to create excel spreadsheets for reporting functions and an above average competency with Windows and related applications. Communication – Be able to effectively communicate in a variety of situations to a broad range of internal and external listeners. 

Transportation – Must have extensive knowledge of all forms of transportation and show competency of transportation systems, operations, and industry specifics. Knowledge in international shipping for both import and export is required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

May sit long periods of time in a Distribution Center office environment. Will work the duration of the shift with a computer.

Forklift, Reach Truck, and Order picker general certification.
