JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the supervision of the ongoing chassis repair operation in accordance with specified company policy and procedures, regulatory requirements and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining staff; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

(Duties below may not include all duties listed and these are not intended to be limiting in nature).


  • To make a detailed evaluation of repair specifications, itemizing man-hour requirements.
  • Prepare material list necessary for the execution of the job, assure the availability of the materials either from the shop or direct purchase.
  • Assures that the department is customer focused, proactive and highly responsive to production demands.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Carry out on board inspection of the items to be repaired.
  • Update the repair program as well as report directly to Manager, Industrial Assistant
  • Maintain records and files on all work done.
  • Supervise maintenance technician, mechanic, mechanic helper, general maintenance worker and container control checkers.
  • Supervise and prioritize all chassis and work assignments.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules. 
  • Conducts weekly "toolbox" meetings with personnel to reinforce performance / productivity levels, customer service standards, safe working practices, code of conduct and equipment inspections.
  • Provides direction to subordinates using established policies and precedents. 
  • Ensure proper and fair treatment of personnel.
  • Perform inspections and safety audits
  • Monitor work progress.
  • Provide clear and frequent communication to all employees on company policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety and security procedures.
  • Responsible for clean and safe working condition of facility and equipment.
  • Perform administrative functions such as required.
  • Ensure all required reports, inspections, service records are completed and distributed in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
  • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow; assign duties and examine work for quality and quantity. 
  • Approve overtime work, prepare written response to inquiries concerning operational matters.
  • Perform other duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


EDUCATION


High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

EXPERIENCE

One (1) year of verifiable mechanical experience

Four (4) years’ experience in chassis repair and maintenance



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS

Driver’s License

  • Valid Guam Driver’s License with Class A endorsement required; Class B Preferred.

Government Access (to be obtained during employment)

  • Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) required. 
  • Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential required.



KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES


 KNOWLEDGE

  1. Knowledge of a variety of body,

preventative maintenance and repair of gas/diesel vehicles.



ABILITIES

  1. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  2. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.
  3. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  4. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER


  1. Must be able to operate a PC, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Windows, MS power point.
  1. Operate a multi-line telephone, telex, fax and other office equipment.
  2. Maintaining working relations with staff and the public.
  3. Recognizing and maintaining strict confidentiality of work material.
  4. Working independently in the absence of supervision.
