JOB SUMMARY

Eastside Catholic School is seeking a Middle School Humanities Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. The ideal candidate will support the school’s mission of educating the whole student, demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills, and foster critical thinking within an inclusive, faith-based learning environment.


Specific Responsibilities

  • Establish clear objectives for lessons, learning targets and projects in alignment with departmental curriculum
  • Collaborate with the Humanities Department to ensure curriculum alignment, integration and consistency
  • Plan and teach five class periods, including: Humanities (grades 6, 7 or 8) and potentially a reading/writing support course, using research based instructional best practices
  • Develop and maintain curriculum materials, including syllabi, course outlines and assessments aligned with department expectations
  • Monitor and assess student’s development and progress in a fair and consistent manner
  • Participate in all faculty, department and committee meetings, as required

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of and experience in middle school humanities instruction and curriculum design
  • Experience with differentiated instruction to support diverse learners
  • Proficiency with instructional and classroom technology
  • Ability to build positive relationships and maintain open communication with students and families
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, communication and organizational skills
  • A commitment to practices that promote equity, inclusion and fostering a sense of belonging

Education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree in English or a related field required; master’s degree preferred 
  • Teaching experience in middle school humanities preferred
  • A valid teaching certificate preferred
