Pharmacy Hours:
Monday-Friday, 7am-5pm
Saturday, 8am-12pm
Rotate weekend coverage

JOB SUMMARY:
A non-professional health care employee who, under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, performs specific job responsibilities authorized by the Board of Pharmacy Rules and Regulations. A pharmacy technician is expected to maintain the safety, integrity and professionalism of the practice of pharmacy.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES AND DUTIES:
Assist Pharmacist in specific dispensing functions:
- Serving as courier for deliveries and pickups.
- Receiving and interpreting medication orders.
- Profiling such orders.
- Routinely filling medication cart, patient drawers and delivering to nursing unit(s).
- Completing paperwork on such functions.
Perform IV additive functions and total parenteral nutrition preparation as directed by pharmacist.
Operate the unit dose packaging equipment as needed.
Assume specific inventory responsibilities as directed:
- Fill and price requisitions for other services or departments
- Maintain non-controlled pharmacy inventory
- Check and shelve incoming supplies
- Process invoices and purchase orders
- Maintain Omnicell inventory
- Restock emergency carts as needed.
- Pull, isolate and replace outdated medications from pharmacy and Omnicell inventory
- Process and send returns to return goods company
- Participate in annual pharmacy inventory
Answer telephones receive and relay messages as needed.
Respect and preserve patient confidential information.
Attend department staff meetings and in-service programs. Participate in hospital committees as required.
Be alert to accident-producing hazards and promotion of safety; knowledgeable of fire and evacuation plans/protocols.
Prioritize tasks and make economical use of time, supplies and equipment.
Keep pharmacy areas and equipment clean and in proper order.
Perform clerical functions including:
- Departmental typing
- Maintaining literature files, stock records and reports
- Reconciling and printing patient charges
- Auditing patient charges as required
- Auditing invoices
- Maintaining purchasing group records
Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate or equivalent. Must be 18 years or older.
LICENSURE: National Pharmacy Technician Certification preferred, but not required.
EXPERIENCE: Previous hospital/pharmacy experience preferred.
ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL MOTOR SKILLS: The ability to use a variety of office and clinical machines requires the use of fine motor skills and precise hand/eye coordination.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Ability to communicate effectively using verbal and written communication skills in multiple relationships with a variety of cultural and social backgrounds.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Involves contact and communication with patients, providers, nursing personnel and other hospital personnel and involvement in emergency situations. Job requires repetitive use of hands and fingers, involves lifting of light to moderate weight objects, and stooping for stocking, filing, etc.
