About the Role
Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas is looking for an experienced and dynamic Director of Engineering to lead all engineering and maintenance operations across the resort. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and smooth operation of all plant, machinery, equipment, buildings, villas, back-of-house facilities, and utilities, while maintaining the highest standards expected in a luxury island resort.

The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with solid technical expertise, excellent planning skills, and proven experience in managing engineering operations in a luxury hotel or resort environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Engineering team to ensure efficient day-to-day operations of the department
  • Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all resort facilities, villas, equipment, and systems
  • Ensure all engineering operations comply with company standards, safety requirements, and local regulations
  • Monitor and control utility consumption and drive energy-saving initiatives across the resort
  • Manage the maintenance of power generation, desalination, sewage treatment, air conditioning, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, and other critical systems
  • Prepare and manage the department budget, including repairs, maintenance, and capital expenditure planning
  • Coordinate renovation projects, improvement works, and contractor activities as required
  • Ensure the resort maintains a safe environment for guests and team members
  • Work closely with all departments to provide timely support and maintain smooth resort operations
  • Establish strong engineering standards, reporting systems, and maintenance records
  • Train, coach, and develop the engineering team to improve performance and technical capability

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering or a related technical field
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of engineering leadership experience in a luxury hotel or resort
  • Previous Maldives resort experience is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, HVAC, water treatment, sewage treatment, power generation, and general building maintenance
  • Proven ability to lead a multicultural team in a remote island environment
  • Strong budgeting, planning, and project management skills
  • Good knowledge of health, safety, and environmental practices
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond effectively to operational needs
