POSITION PURPOSE


To oversee a team of entry level to seasoned bankers to deliver customer focused and risk tolerant services. To align resources according to their skill and career development goals to ensure employee engagement is high and bench strength is strong. To create a strong partnership with internal referring and sales resources throughout the Bank.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  1. Supervise a team that supports the commercial loans on-boarding functions for Commercial Real Estate, Commercial & Industrial, Agriculture, and Oil & Gas loan types.  
  2. Ensures all documents are accurate and complete.
  3. Monitors processes and makes recommendations for improvement.        
  4. Typically reports to a head of department or loan on-boarding manager.
  5. Manages subordinate staff in day-to–day performance of their jobs.
  6. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.
  7. Has full authority for personnel actions. 
  8. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Assists Senior/Executive Management in developing and meeting short-and long-term goals. 
  9. Conducts periodic reviews of existing policies and procedures to ensure that they are effective and current.
  10. Executes established operational goals and ensures that corporate-wide plans and programs are supported.
  11. Monitors regulatory changes, proactively implementing procedural changes as appropriate.
  12. Monitors and evaluates work quality, efficiency, and productivity.
  13. Drives recommendations and ideas for improved service delivery. Encourages entire team to think about improving every day.
  14. Utilizes technology to solve root causes of issue and to eliminate manual processes.
  15. Provides leadership to develop supervisors to lead their teams (i.e., tracks workflow, ensures that deadlines are met, and that records are complete and accurate, escalates/communicates timely; before an issue occurs).
  16. Schedules leaves and ensures adequate personnel coverage.
  17. Manages all department related projects.
  18. Provides leadership through effective objective setting, delegation, coaching, training and communication.
  19. Conducts recurring team meetings as required and informs personnel of policy.
  20. Ensures that personnel are effective and optimally utilized.  Identifies training needs and develops appropriate training programs.  
  21. Ensures training sessions and cross-trains as appropriate.
  22. Ensures that staffing levels are adequate. Interviews, hires, and assigns personnel.
  23. Conducts performance appraisals as required. Establishes goals with each employee. Formulates and implements corrective actions as needed. Completes salary reviews.
  24. Reaches across the organization to ensure end to end process and controls are balanced in order to create value for the customer, the Bank and our employees.
  25. Ensures that professional and cost-effective business and trade professionals in a confident professional way.
  26. Ensures that the Bank’s reputation is maintained both internally and externally.
  27. Assists with content as subject matter expert to be used for training banking center staff relative to department processes.
  28. Ensures that work area is clean, secure, safe, and well maintained.
  29. Completes special projects and/or other duties as assigned.

 

In addition, the Supervisor is responsible for:

 

  • Employees and activities of the department. This includes planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing the activities within the department. 
  • Ensures reports, records, and other documentation as required, and the preparation of a comprehensive monthly report on Department activities.
  • Developing and maintaining departmental operational procedures to ensure that all activities within the department are conducted in accordance with established standards and Bank Policies.
  • Provides solutions and effective resolutions for all processes and problems arising from those processes.
  • Ensures that services are delivered professionally, efficiently, and courteously.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION LEVEL:  
BA in finance, organizational management, or related field, or 8-10 years banking experience, or comparable combination of education, certifications and/or experience.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:  
Minimum 10 years proven experience with Consumer, Commercial, Real Estate loan products, lending processes and practices.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
10+ year’s expert knowledge of centralized processes (to include a broad range of regulatory requirement adherence, creating operational workflows design and testing, define and implementation of key controls and risk measures, procedure consistency and execution). 
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE
Core Transactional Loan Systems experience such as Precision FiServ, Jack Henry, etc. Good knowledge and working ability of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel, Outlook, and Word.

5+ year’s working knowledge of credit compliance regulations.  Operational knowledge, as specifically related to the automated consumer loan approval, regulations and documentation is preferred

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Repetitive Motion: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products or operate machinery.

Physical Strength: Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.

WORKING CONDITIONS

MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THIS POSITION

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to deal with a variety of variables under only limited standardization. 

 Able to interpret various instructions.

Mathematics Ability: Ability to compute discount, interest, profit, and loss; commission markup and selling price; and ratio, proportion, and percentage. 

 Able to perform very simple algebra.

Language Ability: Ability to read a variety of books, magazines, instruction manuals, atlases, and 

encyclopedias. 

 Ability to prepare memos, reports, and essays using proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar. 

 Ability to communicate distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis, correct 

 pronunciation (or sign equivalent), and variation in word order using present, perfect, and future tenses.
