About the Role

Description

A Hospice Aide, under the direction of a Registered Nurse, provides care and assistance to terminally ill patients within the scope of experience and ability, including: 

· Clean and bathe patients 

· Assistance in toileting

· Maintain patients’ hygiene and change bedding

· Turn, reposition and transfer or move patients between wheelchairs, seats and beds

· Serve meals and help patients eat their food

· Assist in cleaning and housekeeping of rooms and facility

· Maintain par stock of supplies on hand

· Measure vital signs like blood pressure and temperature

· Observe and listen to patients regarding any health concerns they might have and report details or changes in condition to nurse 

· Three 12 hour day shifts, 7:00 am to 7:00 pm, including weekends, at Hospice Inpatient Care in Seaman, OH 

REQUIREMENTS: 

Completion of State approved Nurse Aide course, testing, and registration required. At least one of year experience in a patient care position in a hospital, nursing home, or related health care facility preferred. High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Personal qualities of empathy, responsibility, and dependability. Must demonstrate effective communication skills with team members, clients, and family members. Must have ability to accept supervision and follow instructions. Must carry state minimum in automobile liability insurance.  Able to access patient rooms and facility independently. Must demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment and observe universal precautions. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds using proper body mechanics and be able to assist patient using aids, such as Hoyer lift.
