About the Role

Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Able to decipher blueprints explaining how to weld together multiple materials
  2. Welds according to GMAC, FCAW, and SAW procedures
  3. Ability to use Cutting Torch and Grinder 
  4. Uses MIG welder to assemble fabricated metal products in an efficient manner to maximize production.
  5. Operates the equipment in a safe manner and reports hazards associated with the equipment or its operators to the Safety Director and Maintenance Department.
  6. Produces strong penetrated welds that are smooth, non-porous, and consistent.
  7. Follows required procedures and uses appropriate jigs and fixtures to assist in the assembly process.
  8. Maintains/produces a level of output that will minimize production delays.
  9. Communicates effectively with other workers to direct personal workflow.
  10. Assist other individuals in area when needed.
  11. Provides expertise to other welders in fitting materials together for welding
  12. Proficient in weld call outs and WPS 
  13. Proficient in tape measure reading 
  14. Ability to fit multiple components together with tight tolerances 
  15. Lays out, positions, and secures parts according to specifications
  16. Sets up welding equipment and installs wires in machines 
  17. Ability to pass in house Level 2 weld /fit test


Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Knowledge of the welding process and equipment.
  2. Ability to weld vertical, flat, and overhead welds with good penetration and a quality appearance.
  3. Ability to operate a plasma cutter and acetylene torches.
  4. Good communications skills relative to supervisor and other related departments.
  5. Math skills including fractions and angles.
  6. Ability to read tape measures and angle finders.
  7. Ability to read blueprint drawings and cut lists.
  8. Ability to lift 35 pounds.
  9. Physical ability to work and weld in awkward positions such as kneeling, lying down, and overhead.
  10. Ability to climb and work from a ladder.
  11. Ability to operate various shop tools including power and manually operated wrenches.
  12. Trained in forklift and overhead crane operation.
  13. Maintains punctual, regular and predictable attendance
  14. Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation
  15. Respectfully takes direction from supervisor or manager
  16. Wear personal protective equipment in the form of goggles and welding helmets with dark face plates, heavy leather gloves and protective long sleeve jackets



Requirements

Minimum Experience and Qualifications:

3 years of experience preferred.

Education and/or Equivalent Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment 


Training, Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

Preferred Certifications: FCAW 

Preferred Licenses: N/A

Training: Forklift, Crane Operation, Automated Welding Systems, API/ISO and Epicor.

Critical Skills

Language Skills: Ability to read, write, comprehend instructions and effectively present information

Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematic concepts

Computer Skills: N/A

Reasoning Ability: Common sense understanding of instructions


Physical Demands:

Regularly: Stand and ability to lift up to 35 pounds

Frequently: Walk and use hands to finger

Vision Requirements: Close, peripheral, depth, perception and ability to adjust and focus
