About the Role

Description

Major Functions: Operating the Looms/Creels and support equipment in weaving department.

Full-Time Position, $15.50 + ($2)  shift differential 

Requirements

Competency Requirements:

Qualification:

General. Employees must….

  • Understand the flow of work between twisting, bobbin winding, looms, and move materials into holding areas in accordance with this flow.
  • Understand the production schedule
  • Know how to safely and properly handle (and lift) materials and jackets in all areas.
  • Operate machinery at an acceptable rate.
  • Properly label and identify ply, yarns and fabrics.
  • Have knowledge of yarns, plies, twist levels of yarns. Understand the basic constructions of jackets.
  • Keep all areas, machines, and floors clean.
  • Have the ability to demonstrate skills to less knowledgeable operators, as needed.

Bobbin Winder. Employees must….

  • Have complete knowledge of the winders, and know how to properly set up a new bobbin and wind in the correct direction.
  • Deliver bobbins to proper bins, and keep pace with the loom demands.
  • Maintain full twister spools by the winders.

Loom Operator. Employee must…

  • Change filler yarn bobbins.
  • Identify and repair single end breaks.
  • Identify weaving faults and request proper support as needed.
  • Assist with set-ups and change minor parts, as needed.


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Employee must be physically able to work in areas so as to not harm themselves or others, and must be able to safely use machinery and tools.
  • Understand and verify quality through the use of gauges, tools, specs, and charts.
  • Employees must be able to use scales properly to weigh yarns.
  • Employee must understand how to fill out all paperwork for all areas.
  • Must possess computer knowledge sufficient to perform the job.
  • Must be a problem solver with good mechanical ability, and work well as a team.
  • Employee must be able to communicate with the lead, quality tech, or supervisor any issues they may find that affects the performance of the area, or product.
  • Skill level – entry level.
  • Other activities as designated by supervisor.

Strength Requirements:

Medium

Up to 50lbs of force exerted occasionally, and up to 20lbs frequently, up to 10lbs constantly.


Work Environment:

Employee may be exposed to moving machinery, loud noise and vibration. Employees may be exposed to dust.

Education/Training Requirement:

This position required on the job training. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED must be held by employee to qualify for this position.
