What You’ll Do: 


As an APRN at our Crisis Intervention Center. You’ll be on the frontlines of acute mental health care, working alongside a multidisciplinary team to assess, stabilize, and treat individuals in psychiatric crisis. This position offers a unique blend of clinical leadership, hands-on patient care, and collaboration. 


Key duties include-

  • Conduct psychiatric assessments and diagnose mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications, and monitor therapeutic response and side effects.
  • Deliver evidence-based crisis intervention and trauma-informed care.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, nurses, case managers, and behavioral health staff to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
  • Lead efforts in suicide prevention, risk assessment, and behavioral de-escalation.
  • Contribute to discharge planning, continuity of care, and patient education.
  • Ensure compliance with Kansas regulations regarding mental health, seclusion/restraint, and crisis protocols.
  • Participate in team training, emergency preparedness, and facility policy development.
  • Mentor nursing staff and support a culture of clinical excellence and safety.

Requirements

  •  Current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of Kansas, with prescriptive authority.
  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) Board Certification (preferred).
  • Minimum 1 year of psychiatric/mental health experience; 3+ years preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certified.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess/manage psychiatric emergencies.
  • Strong foundation in psychopharmacology, crisis stabilization, and trauma-informed care.
  • Completion of required health screenings (TB testing, mental & medical clearance).
  • Successful background checks (KBI and KDADS).
