Description

George School, a Quaker boarding and day high school in Newtown, PA, seeks a Substitute Teacher for its Children's Center.   Our Early Childhood Education Center serves children ages 6 weeks to 5 years and is a Keystone STARS 3 early learning program.


Responsibilities

  • Support a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
  • Interact with children using respectful, responsive, and positive guidance strategies.
  • Build supportive caregiver-child relationships that promote trust and individual growth.
  • Assist with daily care routines, including toileting and diapering, and support healthy eating and rest habits.
  • Encourage self-help skills and hygiene through positive role modeling.
  • Participate in safe, engaging indoor and outdoor activities aligned with Keystone STARS quality standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or completion of some college coursework required.
  • Prior professional experience working with children preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry children for short periods and to actively participate in age-appropriate activities, including sitting, crawling, stooping, running, climbing, jumping, dancing, and similar movements.
  • Ability to respond appropriately, calmly, and promptly—both physically and mentally—to the diverse and unexpected situations that arise in an early childhood education setting.
  • Demonstrated discretion, respect for others, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Commitment to the philosophy of a Quaker educational community and a style consistent with Quaker values.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working towards belonging, inclusion and cultural competency.
