Job Description

A professional geotechnical engineer typically handles:

  • Site investigation – studying soil and rock through drilling, sampling, and laboratory testing.
  • Foundation design – determining the best type of foundation (shallow, deep piles, etc.)
  • Slope stability analysis – preventing landslides and ground failure during construction.
  • Earthworks & excavation – ensuring safe digging and back filling operations.
  • Ground improvement – strengthening weak soils using techniques like compaction or grouting.
  • Seismic analysis – assessing earthquake risks and soil behavior such as soil liquefaction.
  • Retaining structures – designing retaining walls and support systems for construction purposes.
  • Do Geotechnical Design works assigned by the Project Director and Technical Design Manager.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • A degree in civil engineering with Masters in Geotechnical Engineering
  • 10 years of relevant work experience as Geotechnical Engineer
  • Passing a board or licensure exam of the Philippines or equivalent.
