About the Role

Description

Position Summary

This role is responsible for leading and coordinating shipping operations while acting as a change agent to improve cross-functional alignment and on-time delivery performance. The position collaborates closely with multiple departments to ensure efficient production flow, accurate scheduling, and timely shipment of products. This role also serves as a key liaison between Jensen Metal Products and it's sister Company Jensen Powder Finishers to support integrated shipping and logistics efforts and strengthen overall supply chain coordination. 


The ideal candidate will possess a valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and teamwork.


Essential Functions

Shipping & Receiving Duties:

  • Lead daily shipping department operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and on-time shipment of all products
  • Serve as a change agent by identifying opportunities for process improvement and supporting initiatives that enhance on-time delivery performance
  • Collaborate with production, planning, quality, and other departments to ensure alignment of priorities and smooth workflow
  • Participate in production meetings to provide shipping updates, communicate constraints, and coordinate scheduling needs
  • Coordinate production and shipping schedules to support customer demand and business priorities
  • Facilitate and manage shipping coordination efforts between Jensen Metal Products and sister Company Jensen Powder Finishers to ensure seamless intercompany logistics
  • Monitor shipment timelines and proactively address delays or risks impacting delivery commitments
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within shipping and cross-functional processes
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and shipping regulations

Driving & Transportation Duties:

  • Safely operate company vehicles to transport materials, products, and personnel between locations
  • Conduct deliveries and pickups of materials, products, or supplies to and from customers, suppliers, or designated locations
  • Plan and optimize driving routes for efficiency and timely deliveries
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks; report any issues promptly
  • Maintain accurate records of driving activities, including mileage logs, delivery receipts, and inspection reports
  • Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies during transportation activities

General Labor & Team Collaboration:

  • Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, or manual handling equipment
  • Work closely with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and maintain safety and quality standards
  • Communicate effectively to coordinate schedules, resolve issues, and ensure smooth operations between manufacturing and transportation

Requirements

  • Possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and moving heavy objects, as well as standing, bending, and stooping for extended periods.
  • Commitment to following safety protocols and guidelines while performing driving and laborer duties, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety procedures to prevent accidents or injuries
  • Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy and quality in performing tasks such as material handling, assembly line work, packaging, and delivery/pickup activities
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage time effectively to prioritize tasks, plan routes, and meet delivery schedules while maintaining efficiency and productivity
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with supervisors, coworkers, customers, and suppliers, providing updates, following instructions, and addressing inquiries or concerns
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills to identify and address challenges or obstacles encountered while driving or performing general laborer duties, including the ability to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions independently
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, schedules, and work environments, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to take on different tasks or responsibilities as needed to support manufacturing and transportation operations
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential, with a strong work ethic and commitment to fulfilling job responsibilities consistently and efficiently
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with coworkers, supervisors, and other departments to achieve common goals, resolve problems, and ensure smooth operations within the manufacturing company
  • Must be able to drive a 26' box truck (non-CDL), a 21' flatbed truck (Non-CDL) and a pick up truck
  • Work Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm. To meet the needs of the customer’s occasional overtime may be required. The company will try and give as much notice as possible.


Education and Experience

  • Minimum 3+ years in manufacturing shipping & receiving and driving experience
  • Proficient in ERP systems; experience with Global Shop preferred
  • Proficiency in operating company vehicles safely and responsibly, with knowledge of traffic laws, regulations, and safe driving practices
  • Experienced in safe forklift operation, including loading, unloading, and transporting materials in compliance with safety standards
