Senior Geotechnical Engineers
Seattle, Washington
Duties: Executes key geotechnical engineering activities and project-related deliverables on geotechnical projects for the company’s clients. Responsible for project tasks such as developing budgets and scopes, client billings, field report reviews, contract reviews, and proposal development, reporting to Principals and Associates to ensure effective execution of multiple projects. Serves as a technical resource for clients and project staff; provides guidance and expertise to solve complex challenges. Develops complete and accurate field reports, figures, tables, etc., that require minimal edits or revisions. Reviews deliverables from staff and mid-level employees such as field reports, calculations, analyses, etc. Mentors junior staff relative to technical skills, consulting best practices, etc. Responsible for business-development activities such as identifying potential new clients, attending conferences or professional association meetings, etc. Coordinates the development and implementation of field exploration programs and construction projects. Ensures that work performed is consistent with project plans and specifications and in accordance with safety guidelines. Completes engineering analyses and calculations. Develops complex conceptual models (i.e., numerical modeling, hydraulic/hydrologic modeling, etc.). Completes complex spatial analyses (e.g., contours, clipping, buffering). Domestic travel to project sites and GeoEngineers’ offices in Bellingham, Washington and Redmond, Washington may be required up to 10% of the time in order to collaborate with project teams.
Requirements: Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree or the foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering field and 4 years of experience as a Geotechnical Engineer, Research/Teaching Assistant, or in a related geotechnical/civil engineering occupation. Experience must include:
- 4 years using Mathcad, ArcGIS, MODFLOW, FLAC, Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, PLAXIS, Slope/W or other software related to the discipline of geotechnical engineering.
- 3 years coordinating engineering projects, including geotechnical field investigations, slope stability analysis, foundation design, proposals, scheduling, budget preparation, attending client meetings, and reviewing project invoices.
The position also requires a Professional Engineer (PE) license or the foreign equivalent.
All education, training and experience may be gained concurrently. Applicants must be U.S. workers (includes U.S. citizens, permanent residents, foreign nationals granted temporary residence under one of the 1986 legalization programs, refugees, and asylees.
