Description
The Improvement Sciences Specialist supports delivery of process improvement, project management, and knowledge management initiatives across Navy Medicine. This role applies analytical, technical, and operational expertise to improve workflows, enhance system performance, and support data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Process Improvement Support
- Assist in execution of CPI initiatives using methodologies such as:
- Lean
- Six Sigma
- PDSA / PDCA
- Conduct workflow analysis and support identification of improvement opportunities
- Support development and implementation of optimized processes
Project & Portfolio Support
- Assist in managing project activities across the full lifecycle
- Support development of project documentation, schedules, and deliverables
- Track project performance and assist in reporting progress, risks, and issues
Knowledge Management & Systems Support
- Support development and maintenance of knowledge management systems (e.g., SharePoint, SPIDR)
- Create training materials, user guides, and instructional content
- Assist with system configuration, data management, and process automation efforts
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Perform data analysis to support process improvement and performance tracking
- Develop dashboards, reports, and visualizations (e.g., Power BI)
- Support metric development and performance measurement initiatives
Training & Stakeholder Support
- Deliver or support training sessions on tools, systems, and methodologies
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and improve system usability
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Statistics, Business, or related field
- Minimum 6+ years of relevant experience in process improvement, analytics, or project support
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with data analysis and reporting tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher) and/or PMP certification
- Experience supporting DoD or healthcare environments
- Experience with:
- SharePoint
- Power BI
- Microsoft Project / Office Suite
