This role serves as the single point of accountability for performance transparency, cost-to-serve insights, and executive-ready materials that inform leadership decisions.
The principal designs and owns the operating expense framework, translates analyses into actionable insights, and ensures leadership has a clear, consistent view of where and why we spend money, how it drives business outcomes, and where we have opportunities. This role partners closely with Finance, Business Technology, HR, and other enterprise stakeholders, operating with a high degree of judgment, influence, and independence.
Impact Statement
This role is critical to strengthening financial discipline, enabling informed trade-offs, and improving Cigna Healthcare’s efficiency and effectiveness. By creating clarity around cost-to-serve, discretionary spend, and operating performance, the Performance Management Principal acts as a force multiplier for leadership—ensuring decisions are grounded in fact, aligned to strategy, and executed with accountability.

- Partner with Finance and Business leaders to ensure consistent interpretation, governance, and accountability for OpEx decisions.
- Design and maintain a comprehensive OpEx placemat containing trends, risks, and opportunities, and elevate insights with recommendations and trade-offs for leadership consideration.
MBR & Executive Performance Materials
- Own the aggregation of Monthly Business Review (MBR) materials, including various placemats and scorecards.
- Partner with stakeholders to continuously improve metrics, definitions, and usability.
- Ensure scorecards align with leadership priorities, enable accountability, and support proactive management rather than retrospective review.

- Drive consistency across teams while respecting nuance in how different parts of the business operate.
- Operate as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, balancing analytical rigor with practical judgment.
Qualifications

- Deep understanding of Cigna's SG&A / administrative expense structures and operating models.
- Demonstrated ability to translate detailed financial data into clear, executive-level insights.
- Proven experience owning executive-facing materials (e.g., MBRs, scorecards, performance narratives).
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and storytelling skills.
- Exceptional judgment and comfort operating independently in ambiguous, high-stakes environments.
