Role Summary
The Business Unit Manager leads PPS’s Gas Distribution Construction division with full accountability for safety, operations, financial performance, client relationships, and strategic growth. This role owns P&L results, drives operational excellence, and builds high-performing teams in a regulated utility environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all day-to-day gas distribution construction operations, ensuring safety, quality, compliance, and productivity.
- Own full P&L performance, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, margin improvement, and revenue growth.
- Develop and lead project managers, supervisors, and field teams; drive accountability, performance, and workforce readiness.
- Serve as the primary client contact; manage contracts, change orders, and long-term utility relationships.
- Champion safety and regulatory compliance in partnership with Safety leadership.
- Execute strategic plans to expand market presence, improve processes, and grow the business unit.
Qualifications Required
- 7+ years in gas distribution construction, utility contracting, or related infrastructure.
- Proven leadership of large field operations or business units with P&L responsibility.
- Strong knowledge of gas distribution systems, construction practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated success in financial performance, client management, and safety leadership.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- Experience with major utility clients in the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic.
- Proficiency with project, scheduling, and cost management systems.
