Davis & Floyd is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Highway Inspector. We are a multi-disciplined firm that has been providing quality engineering services to our clients since 1954. The ideal candidate will work in a strong team environment of highly motivated professionals for a family owned and oriented company that prides itself on integrity and quality.


Responsibilities

· Responsible for necessary inspection services for earthwork and base, asphalt, foundations, concrete, structures, erosion, and other construction related items

· Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with colleagues and client representatives

· Ensure that all new construction is completed in accordance with plans, specifications, special provisions, standard drawings, and approved materials lists

· Ensure that all construction projects are properly inspected

· Prepare daily inspection and contractor performance reports

· Perform field checks on all preliminary plans to assure completeness

· Ensure that design and construction is in accordance with the client’s concerns and permit requirements

· Monitor contractor’s schedule

· Compile closing packages

· Record as-built revisions and review with contractor

· Adheres to all safety guidelines required of the job

Requirements

· 0-3 years of experience preferred

· SCDOT project experience preferred

· Valid driver’s license required

· Minimal lifting, bending, and standing required 

· Certifications preferred:

o American Concrete Institute Field Technician – Grade 1 (ACI)

o SCDOT Asphalt Roadway Technician (ART)

o SCDOT Portland Cement Concrete Field Technician 

o SCDOT Foundations Technician

o SCDOT Earthwork, Drainage & Base Inspector

o SCDHEC Certified Erosion Prevention & Sediment Control Inspector
