Policy and Promotion Traineeship

[What the role is]

The Policy and Promotion Division drives Singapore's standards and conformance agenda through three key departments. The Policy Department enhances trade provisions and defends Singapore's interests in international agreements to reduce technical barriers to trade, whilst building thought leadership in standards and conformance development. The Promotion Department analyses market trends to develop strategic insights, supports companies in leveraging standards for growth, and enhances Singapore's reputation as a trusted quality hub. The Testing, Inspection and Certification Department supports the development of the local testing, inspection and certification industry, enabling companies in this field to grow and innovate.

This traineeship provides an opportunity to support strategic policy development through data analytics and visualisation within the Policy and Promotion Division. You will develop competencies in data analysis, strategic planning, dashboard design, and policy research. Through this role, you will gain valuable experience in translating complex datasets into actionable insights that inform long-term strategic planning for Singapore's Testing, Inspection and Certification sector and the broader standards and conformance ecosystem.

[What you will be working on]

• Strategic Data Analysis: Support data-driven strategy development for the Testing, Inspection and Certification (TIC) sector, mapping and analysing existing datasets to inform a comprehensive 10-year strategic workplan.

• Dashboard Development: Design and implement interactive dashboards to consolidate TIC company data for reporting and trend analysis, enabling effective monitoring of sector performance and growth patterns.

• Performance Monitoring Systems: Develop dashboard solutions featuring output and outcome indicators to track progress against the 10-year workplan, ensuring strategic objectives are measurable and data-driven.

[What we are looking for]

• Data Analytics Background: Strong foundation in data analysis, statistics, or business intelligence with experience in data mapping, trend analysis, and strategic planning support.

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in dashboard development tools and data visualisation software, with the ability to transform complex datasets into clear, actionable insights for policy makers.

• Strategic Thinking: Analytical mindset with experience in policy research or strategic planning, and strong attention to detail for mapping data to strategic objectives.
