About the Role

Student Worker – Museum of Natural History Student Curator

 

Number of Openings: 3

 

Purpose/Objective of the Role: 

Works with the Curatorial Director (Lisa Tabak), other student curators, and Biological Sciences faculty who use OWU Museum of natural History specimens in their teaching, including Drs. Carreno, Gangloff, and Reichard.                                                                                                                          

Tasks & Responsibilities:

Duties can include cataloging previously uncatalogued specimens, designing and presenting science outreach programs, giving tours of the Museum to students, faculty, staff, alumni, community members, and prospective students, refilling and/or re-jarring specimens in liquid (EtOH or formalin), updating exhibits, and communicating with faculty and staff at other natural history museums.

 

Qualifications: 

Successful completion of one or more of the following courses: 

  • Biol 122 (Organisms & Their Environment)
  • Biol 313 (Entomology
  • Biol 341 (Ornithology)
  • Writing
  • Graphic design
  • Database management skill
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
