POSITION SUMMARY:
Little Leaf Farms is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Fleet Technician to support the maintenance, inspection, and repair of our vehicle fleet and mobile equipment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring reliable, compliant, and efficient transportation that supports our fresh leafy greens from farm to customer.
The Fleet Technician will perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on company-owned trucks, vans, trailers, forklifts, and other material-handling equipment to minimize downtime and maintain the highest safety and food-quality standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on light- and medium-duty trucks, trailers, and company vehicles.
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and brake systems.
- Maintain forklifts, pallet jacks, and other mobile equipment used in production and warehouse operations.
- Respond promptly to breakdowns and equipment failures to minimize operational disruptions.
- Ensure fleet vehicles meet DOT, state, and company safety standards.
- Complete required inspections, documentation, and maintenance records accurately and on time.
- Support food safety, sanitation, and biosecurity practices in all maintenance activities.
- Conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues before failures occur.
- Assist with fleet readiness for peak production and distribution periods.
- Recommend equipment upgrades or improvements to enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Work closely with Operations, Logistics, and Warehouse teams to coordinate repairs and scheduling.
- Provide feedback on recurring issues and recommend preventative solutions.
- Support continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to diagnose and repair vehicle systems.
- Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostics, preventive maintenance, and repair procedures.
- Familiarity with DOT and vehicle safety regulations.
- Ability to read maintenance manuals, schematics, and service instructions.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics (electrical and plumbing) and safely use a voltmeter, hand tools, and power tools.
- Strong communication skills, stress management, and sense of accountability; must be a responsible and reliable team player with a positive attitude, high level of maturity, and strong work ethic.
- Is well organized with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to lift, carry, and balance up to 75 lbs. (150 lbs. with assistance) with extreme care and caution when working around plants and products.
- Ability to meet physical demands including reaching, climbing, bending, walking, standing, and performing repetitive work.
- Comfortable working in conditions that include heights, hot and cold temperatures, and high-intensity lighting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications and ability to interpret operational data in Excel.

Requirements
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a fleet mechanic, diesel mechanic, or maintenance technician.
- Comfortable working in industrial environments, including wet or outdoor conditions.
PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with refrigerated trucks, agricultural equipment, or food distribution fleets.
- Forklift or heavy equipment maintenance experience.
- ASE certification(s) or equivalent technical credentials.
- Experience working in GMP, food manufacturing, or cold-chain environments.
- Class A CDL
