 This is a seasonal position for our school-age classroom ages 6-11; beginning mid-May through mid-August.

  • Potential Schedule: Monday through Friday 7am-3:30pm or 8am-4:30pm 
  • Full-time, no benefits.

Job Summary:

Stepping Stones Child Care is seeking a Seasonal Full-Time School Age Teacher to lead our School Age classroom for children ages 6–11 years old during our exciting summer program running mid-May through mid-August. This classroom operates like a fun, structured summer camp environment, filled with engaging activities, hands-on learning experiences, themed programming, outdoor play, and field trips. 

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment, enjoys building strong relationships with school-age children, and can create a safe, exciting, and organized atmosphere where children can learn, explore, and have fun all summer long. 

Requirements

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and engage children ages 6–11 in daily summer camp-style activities, including indoor games, outdoor play, STEM projects, art, group challenges, and enrichment experiences.  
  • Plan and lead age-appropriate activities that promote teamwork, creativity, problem-solving, and positive peer relationships.  
  • Ensure active supervision and safety of all children during classroom activities, playground time, meals, transitions, and off-site field trips.  
  • Support the successful execution of weekly summer themes, special events, and fun learning opportunities.  
  • Maintain a structured but fun classroom environment that balances recreation, learning, and behavior expectations.  
  • Use positive guidance and redirection strategies to support behavior management and conflict resolution among school-age children.  
  • Communicate professionally with families regarding daily activities, behavior updates, and memorable summer experiences through Brightwheel and in-person interactions.  
  • Complete attendance tracking, meal counts, daily logs, and all required child care licensing documentation.  
  • Conduct daily classroom and playground safety checks and report maintenance or safety concerns immediately.  
  • Assist with preparing materials, organizing supplies, and maintaining a clean, engaging classroom environment.  
  • Follow all Utah Child Care Licensing requirements, center policies, and transportation/field trip procedures.  
  • Work collaboratively with leadership and team members to ensure a successful and memorable summer camp program. 

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Experience working with school-age children (ages 6–11) in child care, camps, after-school programs, education, or recreation settings preferred.  
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and be able to manage multiple children, activities, and transitions at once.  
  • Strong classroom management and behavior guidance skills.  
  • Ability to lead large group activities and keep children actively engaged throughout the day.  
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.  
  • Friendly, energetic, and dependable with a passion for creating fun experiences for children.  
  • Must be comfortable participating in field trips, outdoor activities, and active summer programming.  
  • Must be comfortable driving center vans for field trips and summer activities.  
  • Must hold a valid Utah driver’s license or be willing to obtain one before the start of employment.  
  • Must have a clean driving record with no to minimal driving violations/tickets.  
  • Ability to work well as part of a team and communicate professionally with families and staff.  
  • Must be at least 18 years old.  
  • Must pass a Utah Child Care Licensing Background Check.  
  • Must maintain current CPR/First Aid and Food Handler certifications.  
  • Must complete all required Utah Child Care Licensing preservice and annual training requirements. 

Schedule

We are looking for applicants that are willing to work a flexible schedule in order to meet the needs of our extended hour facility.

Compensation

  • Starting wage $15/hour
