 Job Summary

The Vertex Group Accounting Manager is a hands-on finance professional and key business partner who supports both operating companies and group-level finance initiatives across the organization. This role goes beyond traditional accounting responsibilities, playing an active part in interpreting financial results, strengthening processes, and providing insights that support operational and strategic decision-making.


The Accounting Manager oversees day-to-day accounting and financial reporting for assigned operating companies, while also supporting broader group initiatives. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financials, maintaining strong internal controls, and partnering across the business to help Vertex Group achieve its financial and operational objectives


Key Responsibilities


Financial Reporting, Analysis & Business Partnership

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with GAAP. 
  • Support consolidated reporting, audits, and financial analysis for the broader organization. 
  • Provide insight into financial results, trends, and variances to support better business decision-making. 
  • Serve as a finance partner to operating companies, helping translate financial data into meaningful insights and actions. 
  • Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies and external regulatory requirements. 
  • Maintain accurate and well-organized financial records for internal and external stakeholders. 

Accounting Operations & Process Ownership 

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets. 
  • Lead the month-end close process for assigned business units, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency. 
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. 
  • Leverage ERP systems to improve efficiency, strengthen reporting, and enhance financial visibility across the organization.

Acquisitions & Integration Support

  • Support acquisition activity, including financial due diligence, onboarding, and post-close integration.
  • Assist with aligning newly acquired companies into group accounting policies, processes, and reporting standards.
  • Help establish opening balances, purchase accounting support, and initial financial reporting for acquired entities.
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure smooth transition and integration of financial operations during acquisitions

Cross Functional & Group Level Collaboration 

  • Partner with HR, operations, and finance teams to support key business initiatives. 
  • Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and expense management efforts at both the business unit and group level. 
  • Act as a liaison between operating companies and the broader finance function to ensure alignment and consistency in financial reporting and processes. 
  • Support group-wide initiatives, system implementations, and process improvements. 
  • Perform other duties as needed to support the finance organization.

Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred).
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting and payroll support.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, and accounting best practices.
  • Experience with ERP and payroll systems (NetSuite and Paylocity preferred).
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with high attention to detail.
