The Business Development Executive is responsible for driving demand and securing product specifications within the industrial and construction sectors. They manage the project pipeline from early design stages through to final award while coordinating with internal sales and technical teams.

The role targets the Industrial segment, including but not limited to agriculture, livestock, pulp and paper, and related processing facilities. Coverage is national, with focused development of priority geographic areas based on project potential and investment trends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and convert project pipeline from early stage to awarded stage.
- Drive specification adoption and secure listing of BlueScope products in project documents.
- Engage and influence key stakeholders, project owners, AEC (Architect Engineer Consultant), contractors, and direct customers (roll formers).
- Map decision-making process and identify key influencers per project.
- Track and manage pipeline across stages. Lead, qualified, spec-in, tender, awarded.
- Identify substitution risks and implement mitigation actions.
- Represent the company at industry events, exhibitions, and networking opportunities.
- Provide regular reports on sales activities, market insights, and project status..
- Work closely with internal stakeholders (sales, marketing, and technical teams) to align business development strategies with company objectives.
Qualification and/or experience required:
- Bachelor’s degree in the fields of Civil Engineering, Architecture or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project sales, specification, or business development within the industrial or construction segment.
- Proven experience engaging with key stakeholders. Architects, consultants, project owners, and contractors.
- Strong track record in developing project pipeline and influencing specification outcomes.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Familiarity with CAD and SketchUp is an advantage.
- Experience in using CRM tools such as Salesforce for pipeline tracking and management
Preferred qualifications and experience:
- Experience in developing and delivering project proposals and technical presentations
- Experience managing long sales cycles and complex project stakeholders
- Strong analytical skills to assess market trends and project potential
- Self-motivated
