About the Role

As we welcome our new Reserve Bank Governor, we are also looking to welcome a new Solution Architect to support our nationally significant mahi.

  • Lead end-to-end solution design across complex technology environments

  • Partner with stakeholders to shape secure, resilient solutions that deliver business outcomes

  • Salary circa $155k plus five weeks annual leave and 15 wellness days

Te tūranga – The role

As a Solution Architect, you will design technology solutions that deliver clear business outcomes and align to our enterprise architecture, standards, and practices. You will work across teams within the Technology Directorate, project teams, and partners to shape fit-for-purpose architectures and guide delivery across the full lifecycle, from discovery and design through to implementation, transition to operations, and continuous improvement.

In this role you will:

  • Translate business requirements into solution options and architecture recommendations, including clear trade-offs (cost, risk, time, complexity).

  • Produce high-quality solution designs and architecture artefacts (e.g., diagrams, interface/integration designs, and architecture decision records).

  • Define and validate non-functional requirements such as security, resilience, performance, availability, and supportability.

  • Work with delivery teams to ensure solutions are implemented as designed, including providing architectural guidance, reviews, and support through delivery.

  • Present solution designs in relevant governance forums, incorporating feedback and driving timely decisions.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of our architecture frameworks, patterns, and ways of working.

Ō pūkenga – About you

You’re a collaborative, outcome-focused architect who can balance strategic intent with pragmatic delivery. You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences, and you’re comfortable working through ambiguity to reach well-reasoned decisions. To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Proven experience designing solutions in complex organisations, producing consistently high-quality solution designs and associated documentation.

  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture alignment, architecture governance, and how to navigate forums and decision-making processes.

  • Demonstrated ability to define and assure non-functional requirements (security, resilience, performance, availability, and supportability) in partnership with risk and operational teams.

  • Experience with integration patterns and designing solutions that span applications, data, identity, network, and infrastructure.

  • Ability to provide pragmatic advice and guidance on technology investment and solution options, including communicating trade-offs and recommendations.

  • Confidence presenting and influencing across a wide range of stakeholders, from delivery teams through to senior leaders.

  • Familiarity with architecture and service management frameworks (e.g., TOGAF and/or ITIL) and modern delivery ways of working (e.g., agile).
