Our Electrical Services Team specialise in the coordination and delivery of all essential elements within the electrical and controls sectors.

With a dedicated point of contact overseeing the process, we ensure seamless integration of all components, delivering a well-planned and cost-effective solution for Otago University’s built environment.

The role | Te mahi

Recognised for your exceptional workmanship, extensive knowledge, and expertise in all aspects of the electrical trade, you will have the opportunity to contribute to large and meaningful projects across a diverse range of residential and commercial structures.

Additionally, we maintain several highly serviced buildings equipped with cutting-edge control systems, providing an excellent opportunity—if interested—to expand or enhance your skills in building management system (BMS) controls.

You take pride in every aspect of your work, from meticulous job notes and clear communication to fostering strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Your dedication extends to mentoring future electricians, inspiring them with your expertise and professionalism. With exceptional problem-solving skills, you take initiative and ownership in all aspects of your role, proactively seeking solutions to both current and future challenges.

Key skills required in this role include:
•    Delivering electrical maintenance, repairs, and alterations including execution of new work.
•    Ensuring all repairs and maintenance are completed in timely and cost-effective manner to support operational excellence.
•    Comprehensive understanding of the Building Act, Electrical standards, regulations, and Health and Safety requirements.
•    Current First Aid Certificate, or the willingness to obtain one.
•    Strong Health and Safety focus and full driver’s license.
•    Good computer literacy including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

In addition, you will be required to hold a current NZ Electrician Registration and current practicing licence.

BMS, PLC and HVAC Controls experience is an advantage.

This is a permanent, full time (40 hours week) position, located in Ōtepoti, Dunedin.

The appointment range for this position is $74,059 to $90,581 per annum.
