JOB SUMMARY
The High School Assistant Principal is a key member of the Administrative Team and reports to the High School Principal to support all aspects of the high school community and experience. This role provides leadership in academic programming, faculty development and supporting students and families ensuring alignment with Eastside Catholic’s mission and standards of excellence.
The Assistant Principal supervises the following departments: Student Life, Deans of Students, High School Counseling and College Counseling. Start date is July 1, 2026.
Essential responsibilities include:
Leadership & administrative partnership
· Assist the High School Principal and administrative staff, including Middle School Administration, in overseeing the daily operations of the division and the school at large.
· Collaborate with principals and director of curriculum and instruction to develop the scope and sequence of the high school curriculum.
· Partner with the Admissions team in the review and evaluation of high school applicants.
· Serve as a member of the Incident Response Team supporting school safety and emergency preparedness.
· Model ethical leadership, professionalism and a commitment to fostering a community of belonging.
Faculty development & professional growth
· Perform teacher observations and support faculty through the Teacher Portfolio process
· Assist the High School Principal with interviewing, hiring and onboarding of high school faculty.
· Plan and help facilitate regular faculty meetings and in-service activities.
· Foster a collaborative, reflective faculty culture aligned with continuous improvement and student success.
Student Life & Community
· Build strong relationships with students and their families, communicating proactively to promote student learning and growth.
· Support school initiatives and practices that promote equity, inclusion and belonging.
· Foster and model behavior which contributes to a positive school climate aligned with the Mission and Touchstones of the school.
· Be present for student events, which may take place in the evening or over the weekend.
· Partner with director of student life on programming and activities, including but not limited to school assemblies, high school mentors, social events and student leadership initiatives.
· Collaborate with deans of students on student accountability and discipline.
· Work closely with high school and college counselors to support students’ academic and social-emotional learning.
· Serve as a member of the Student Intervention Team, providing student support using collaborative and solution-oriented methods.
Requirements
- Master’s degree required (or in process), preferred in Education, Educational Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field.
- Principal certificate preferred (or in process).
- Experience as a school administrator is preferred or demonstrated leadership experience in roles such as department chair, grade-level lead, dean of students, or assistant principal.
- High school teaching experience required.
- Experience with student discipline and student support systems
- Experience working in a diverse community or working collaboratively to engage youth in community-building, social and environmental justice
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
