PURPOSE STATEMENT
A Patient Care Tech assists with nursing care, performs job functions according to specific age and/or developmental needs, and works under the supervision of the Registered Nurse and/or Charge Nurse of the unit.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Demonstrate knowledge in patient care i.e.: bathing patients, assisting patients with ambulation and/or transfers, vital signs, and other patient care.
- Demonstrate positive customer service relations? Routinely participate in Quality Improvement projects and encourage department to continuously improve
- Assist co-workers as needed/requested
- Support the Medical Center’s Mission/Vision/Philosophy positively
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Perform other essential duties as assigned.
Requirements
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certification as Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), preferred. Equivalent experience as a nursing assistant or a current nursing student that has completed the Fundamentals of Nursing is acceptable in lieu of certification.
- Current BLS, required (can obtain after hire)
- Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to sit and stand, intermittent 8 to 12 hours a day.
- Must be able to use standard office equipment, including the telephone and computer keyboard.
- Continuously works under pressure of near 100% accuracy while meeting inflexible deadlines.
- Continuously utilizes manual/bi-manual dexterity, near vision, speech, and hearing.
- Frequently stands, walks, sits and utilizes eye/hand coordination and color definition.
- Occasionally reaches above shoulder, regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 35 lbs.
- Occasionally walks on uneven surfaces.
