Summary: The DSP For Recreational Services provides overall support to persons served by teaching skills that foster independence and community integration as directed and guided by the person's Individual Service Plan (ISP). This position works withing our recreational department as well as our Vocational Skills Training Progran1 (VSTP). They also ensure the highest quality of standards in a supportive, clean and safe environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provides support to persons served by teaching skills that foster independence and community integration
• Follows the care plan as written in the ISP (i.e. goals, objectives, schedules, daily routines)
• Assesses the skill level of persons served and provides appropriate assistance
• Provides support to the Recreation Department including oversight the Special Olympics Program
• In the Vocational Skills Training Program (VSTP), the DSP is responsible for supervising, evaluation, and providing instruction to VSTP participants.
• Participates in weekend events including evenings and overnights as needed.
• Engages persons served in activities
• Completes and maintains accurate records of client progress and services performed and personal financials of persons served, reporting any changes in client condition to supervisor or manager
• Transports persons served to locations outside of the home/Program area
• Plan, shop for, and/or prepare nutritious meals
• Medication passing/monitoring and performs all medication passing/medical procedures as delegated by the RN or supervisor
• Administer personal care, such as but not limited to ambulation, personal hygiene assistance, and client specific needs as delegated by the RN or supervisor
• Supports the spiritual enrichment choices of persons served
• Perform housekeeping duties such as cleaning, washing clothes and dishes, maintaining cleanliness of
• Program vehicle, basic maintenance of outside house/Program area appearance, and running errands for program area/home.
• Maintain a safe environment for persons served
• Performs other job duties as assigned
• Supports the mission and vision of the organization
• Participates in committees and meetings
• Adheres to all St. Coletta policies and procedures

Requirements
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend documents. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively communicate with customers, clients, and employees.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
Reasoning Ability: Ability to problem solve with a variety of variables in standardized situations. Ability to interpret and follow through on instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Computer Skills: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid driver's license with a driving record that meets the standards set forth by the organization and valid vehicle insurance. Ability to complete and maintain all required training in accordance with organizational, County, State, and Federal regulations.
Driving Requirements: This position requires that an employee is able to drive for work purposes and must maintain a valid driver's license with a driving record that meets the standards set forth by the organization. This position may also require the use of the employee's personal vehicle.
