POSITION SUMMARY:
Directly coordinate the activities of production teammates within the Finish Department. Serve as the technical lead for the area. Be the expert on efficient operation of all equipment in the department. Under direction of the Production Manager – Finish, assess and direct job flow, identifying production problems, and training teammates in the department to achieve quality, productivity, and turnaround goals. Always promote a safe, efficient, and organized work environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
OPERATIONS
• Organize, oversee, and control the work and job flow of the department to meet quality, productivity and turnaround goals in the Finish Department
• Interact with Production Manager – Finish to coordinate efforts and communicate effectively with teammates.
• Monitor processes to ensure quality checks are carried out and develop countermeasures to correct defects
• Use problem solving techniques to proactively address issues or concerns within the department. Elevate to Production Manager – Finish for resolution when appropriate
• Review jobs by machine to determine if they meet Optical Lab standards
• Review damages to determine root cause and methods for improvement
• Troubleshoot all equipment issues to achieve resolution and determine the need to engage Maintenance Team
• Perform production duties alongside Finish Department teammates
TRAINING AND IMPROVEMENT
• Ensure teammates receive applicable Optical Lab training to perform all aspects of their job including safe and efficient equipment operations in addition to work and safety procedures as outlined in their respective job description
• Provide manager with input for teammate’s performance reviews and development plans, providing direct feedback when appropriate
• Recommend and participate in the implementation of measures to motivate teammates and to improve morale, production methods, efficiency, equipment performance, productivity, and product quality
MAINTAIN SAFE WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Ensure teammates follow all Optical Lab and company policies and adhere to safety related guidelines
• Complete accident reports and follow accident communication procedures
• Perform stretching before reporting to workstation
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Vocational or Technical training preferred
• Combination of education and/or equivalent work experience in a related field
• ABO Certification preferred
• 5+ years of previous related experience in optical (eyewear) manufacturing, retail, or other relevant experience
• 1-2 years supervisory/management experience
• Demonstrated hands on leadership capability

• Ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization through written and two-way verbal communication
• Able to read and write at a high school graduate level
• Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Able to operate various Optical Lab equipment and office equipment
• Demonstrate physical agility (bending, climbing, twisting, squatting, lifting, pushing, reaching, etc.) on a repetitive basis
• Ability to lift an average of 25-35 pounds on a repetitive basis
• Ability to see (Near, Distance, Color, and Depth Perception)
• Manual and finger dexterity, as well as hand/arm steadiness
• Ability to grip and hold items
• Good eye and hand coordination
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
• Ability to perform work in various departments within the lab based on business needs
• Able to work normal and/or extended (evenings, nights, and weekends) office hours to meet established deadlines
• Able to travel independently to support Company objectives and personal development
