The maintenance mechanic is responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing production equipment and building facilities. They also perform preventive maintenance and ensure a safe, efficient, and clean work environment.

Perform duties to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair production equipment, building facilities and grounds. This is including, but not limited to HVAC, boilers, air compressors, ammonia refrigeration systems, blenders, processing and packaging equipment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensures operation of plant machinery utilizing both electrical and mechanical skills to troubleshoot equipment
- Completes preventive/predicative maintenance procedures
- Ensures duties of the position are performed in a safe, efficient and effective manner
- Controls downtime by completing needed repairs and part replacements in a timely fashion
- Fabricates repair parts by machining items to specifications as necessary
- Provides mechanical maintenance information by informing production workers of routine techniques, answering questions, and responding to requests
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and updating certified skill levels
- Maintains safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations
- Contributes to team effort by performing other duties as assigned and needed

Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Able to effectively communicate with all levels of management and staff
- Minimum three to five years related maintenance experience
- Broad knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, AC drives, VFDs and PLCs
- Proficient electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Valid state driver’s license
- Able to work overtime and weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP and USDA regulations preferred
- Bilingual preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift in excess of 40 pounds daily
- Able to tolerate extreme temperatures
- Able to operate variety of hand and power tools on a frequent, daily basis
- Able to occasionally climb, crouch, kneel and crawl to service variety of equipment
This is a union position and comes with benefits provided by the union, upon completion of the 90 day probationary period. Benefits include: medical, vision and dental as well as 1 week of paid time off after 1 year of employment. |
