MPU TECHNICIAN
Empower Solar is a full service, residential solar installer looking for experienced and driven individuals to join our ever-growing team! The MPU Technician is responsible for completing residential service panel upgrades. (MPUs), Full Battery Backups, Hi Ties, Subpanel installs, and Derates, to accommodate Solar Installations. Additional duties include uploading photos every day, communicating with customers, managers, ensuring that the work is completed and the systems functional on a daily basis.
Essential Functions:
- Completing residential service upgrades, backups, Hi Ties, subpanels, and derates.
- Reviewing photos of upcoming projects
- Troubleshooting electrical or solar issues.
- Collect data and uploading photos during and at the end of each project.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Comply with required training and fulfillment of assigned duties.
- Maintain a clean driving record.
- Keep vehicle clean and manage vehicle inventory on a daily and weekly basis.
- Complete projects within strict timeframes and allowed budgets.
- Maintain high levels of quality assurance and quality control with an emphasis on safety.
- Diagnosing and troubleshoot system malfunctions and operational issues.
- Communicate with customers in a professional, considerate, and respectful manner, answering all questions and complaints to the best of your ability.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Required:
- Minimum 3-year residential electrical experience.
- Strong understanding of NEC codes.
- Previous experience completing service upgrades.
- Previous experience with moving loads. Battery backups. Tesla and Enphase.
- Knowledge of residential solar.
- Knowledge of installing CTs and working with batteries.
- Ability to commission Tesla and Enphase Systems.
- Ability to tie in existing solar system to main panel.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds occasionally throughout the day.
- Ability to work safely with heights on ladders and in confined areas.
- Experience complying with OHSA safety requirements and regulations.
- Ability to make sound, independent judgments
- Take initiative to plan, organize, and complete assignments independently
- Able to work independently and work effectively as a member of a team
- Able to handle regular interruptions to serve the needs of others while maintaining focus on multiple priorities and short and long term deadlines
- Able to finish projects both quickly and accurately
- Able to proactively seek out ways to improve upon existing methodologies
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with employees, maintaining a warm and professional manner with a positive employee relations and customer service mindset
