We are recruiting on behalf of an established energy producer operating across Mississippi. This organization plays a vital role in the region's power generation and distribution infrastructure, and is seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical/Electrical Engineer to join its growing operations team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who thrives in a hands-on, safety-focused environment and wants to contribute meaningfully to reliable and efficient energy production. You will work across a range of engineering functions — from day-to-day plant operations support to longer-term infrastructure improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities- Design, analyze, and maintain mechanical and/or electrical systems used in energy generation and distribution operations
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance inspections, troubleshoot equipment failures, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime
- Develop and review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation in accordance with applicable codes and standards
- Support capital improvement and retrofit projects from concept through commissioning, including scope development, contractor coordination, and quality control
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NERC, and applicable environmental standards
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety teams to identify and resolve equipment performance issues
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and implement sustainable corrective measures
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators related to equipment reliability and system efficiency
- Assist in the development of technical standards, engineering procedures, and training materials for operations staff
- Support procurement activities including vendor evaluation, technical specification writing, and equipment selection
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 3–5 years of engineering experience in an industrial or energy-related environment (e.g., power generation, utilities, oil & gas, petrochemical, or heavy manufacturing)
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as NEC, NFPA, ASME, IEEE, or OSHA regulations
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound engineering decisions under operational pressure
- Effective communication skills — written and verbal — with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
- Proficiency in engineering software relevant to the discipline (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, SolidWorks, or similar)
- Valid authorization to work in the United States
Salary Range: $85,000 – $130,000 per year, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and demonstrated expertise
