About the Role

SUMMARY:

The RN Pre-op/PACU is a Registered Nurse that provides quality patient care using the nursing process, the medical plan of care, and organizational policies. The RN Pre-op/PACU provides safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in the perioperative services for all patient populations. The RN Pre-op/PACU supports the mission, vision, and values of the organization. The RN Pre-op/PACU reports to the Manager of Peri-operative Services.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Current licensure in this State as a Registered Nurse. Progressive work experience in the Perioperative, critical care or emergency room setting of no less than one year. Current BLS certification, ACLS certification within six (6) months of date of hire and PALS within one (1) year of date of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Competence in oral and written communication. Basic computer skills. The ability to critically think and analyze.

PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:

Physical guidelines include ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours a day; lifting, pulling and pushing of carts, equipment, etc. Must be able to bend body downward at the waist; be able to kneel. Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds, push and/or pull patients or equipment up to 100 pounds. Must have visual acuity at least 20 inches or less. Must be able to identify and distinguish colors. Must have ability to coordinate eyes and hands quickly and accurately. Must have ability to manipulate small objects quickly and accurately. Must be able to work with hands in turning and placing objects in space. Must be able to perceive objects accurately as to size, temperature and texture. Must have auditory acuity. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Mental and physical health sufficient to meet the demands of the position. Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions. Working irregular hours; greater than eight hour shifts.
