Description

SUMMARY

The Family Support Specialist assists Child Welfare Case Managers in the provision of services to families. This role facilitates and observes parent/child and sibling visitations and provides transportation for clients (primarily children, ages 0 to18) to medical, dental, and clinical appointments. The Family Support Specialist aids in the prevention of child abuse and neglect in at risk families by providing appropriate modeling techniques, education, and other supportive services.


Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; 

  • Monitor parents and children during supervised visits. Complete summary of each supervised activity and document in the Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN) database.
  • Arrange and/or provide for transportation of children ages birth to 18 years of age to visitations, doctor appointments, counseling, court, placement changes, etc. This position requires driving, often long distances with a use of a company vehicle. 
  • Supervise children in absence of Case Manager or caregiver in accordance with agency procedures.
  • Assure the company vehicle is clean and well maintained.
  • Participate in client staffing's and all staff meetings.
  • Participate in court hearings, as needed.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES:

Objective 1: Provide or arrange for client transportation as needed.

Indicator: Review of all transport activities documented in FSFN case notes.

Objective 2: Ensure that Visitation Notes are entered into FSFN within 48 hours of event 

                       occurring. 

Indicator: FSFN or Mindshare Data reports.

Objective 3: Provide supervision of child/parent visitations and complete required observation 

            logs.  

Indicator: Documented timely in FSFN case notes. 


MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • Education – High School diploma or equivalent required.  


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • Valid Florida driver’s license and at least 2 years of driving experience required. 
  • Car insurance in good standing required. 
  • Two (2) years experience working with children or families preferred.
