TITLE:   Club Director

DEPARTMENT:  Program

FLSA STATUS:      Exempt

REPORTS TO:   Chief Operations Officer 

Position Classification:  Club Director roles are categorized based on scope of responsibility:

 

  Category A (Large Unit): Manages 20+ staff 

 Category B (Mid-Size Unit): Manages 10-20 staff

 Category C (Small Unit): Manages fewer than 10 staff

TYPICAL WORK SCHEDULE:  School year Monday – Friday, Hours vary between 7am and 7:30pm

 Summer Monday – Friday, Hours vary between 7:15 am and 6:00pm

Occasional nights and weekends with proper notice

Primary Purpose

The Club Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and performance of a Boys & Girls Club site. This includes delivering high-quality, outcome-driven youth development programs; ensuring a safe and inclusive environment; managing staff and resources; and building strong relationships with families, schools, and community partners.

The Club Director serves as the on-site executive leader and is accountable for achieving organizational goals related to youth outcomes, membership growth, program quality, and community engagement.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Leadership

· Lead daily Club operations ensuring a safe, clean, positive environment. 

· Deliver high-quality programs aligned with BGCA outcomes.

· Enforce policies and behavior management systems.

· Provide Direct Leadership to the County Unit Advisory Board with support provided by the Chief Operations Officer and the Chief Development Officer.

Strategic Planning & Program Quality

· Plan and evaluate programs to meet member needs.

· Track participation and outcomes using data systems.

· Ensure compliance with grant requirements.

Staff Leadership

· Recruit, train, supervise staff and volunteers.

· Build a strong team culture.

· Conduct evaluations and staff meetings.

Resource & Financial Management

· Provide input into the development of the Unit budget and manage day-to-day operations within approved budget parameters.

· Monitor expenses and ensure fiscal responsibility.

· Oversee facilities and equipment.

Partnership & Community Engagement

· Build relationships with parents, schools, community partners.

· Support Unit Board and parent engagement.

Resource Development & Marketing

· Support marketing and fundraising efforts.

· Positively represent organization in the community.

Compliance & Safety 

· Ensure adherence to policies and safety standards.

· Maintain a safe environment for youth.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assume other duties as assigned.

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintain close, daily contact with Club professional team members/staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, discuss issues, and provide/receive information. Maintain contact with Branch boards. Regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advise, and counsel.

External: Maintain contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents, volunteers, and others to assist in resolving problems and to publicize Club.

Requirements

  

CERTIFICATION/ASSOCIATION: 

· Must be able to be registered by our organization with Boys & Girls Clubs of America (www.mybgca.net). 

· Complete required assigned trainings.

· May be required to gain First Aid and CPR Certifications.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

· For a Category “A” Club bachelor’s degree in education, human services, nonprofit management, or related field preferred.

· For a Category “B/C” Club associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

· 3–5 years of experience in youth development, including at least 1–2 years in a leadership or supervisory role; experience as a Lead Youth Development Professional or similar role preferred

· Demonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment and retention of key personnel.

· Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents, and community leaders.

· Knowledge of children, including their interests and age-appropriate educational needs.

· Strong communication skills, both oral and written

· Ability to recruit, train, supervise and motivate staff.

· Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems.

· Working knowledge of budget preparation, control, and management

· Skilled at fundraising events

· The ability to gain First Aid and CPR certification.

·  Valid driver’s license and insurability under company policy required; CDL or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe strongly preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to perform duties which      require prolonged standing, walking, talking, hearing, standing, sitting,      bending for long periods of time. May occasionally be required to kneel, run and/or climb.
  • Must be able to use the telephone and      other office equipment.
  • Must be able to lift, move, manipulate      and or hold objects up to 25 pounds. Objects that exceed the 25-pound      weight limit require additional assistance when moving, lifting, or      manipulating.
