The Senior Project Manager leads high-profile, complex water resources and civil/environmental engineering projects in a consulting environment. This role is accountable for technical excellence, financial performance, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction. The position manages multiple projects simultaneously, prepares and approves scopes, budgets, schedules, and contracts, and provides leadership to project teams while supporting ongoing client relationships and business development.
What You'll Do:
• Manage complex engineering projects in accordance with established project management and quality programs.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and fee estimates; negotiate contracts and amendments.
• Serve as primary client liaison and trusted technical advisor.
• Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including internal staff and subconsultants.
• Track project performance, utilization, schedule adherence, and profitability.
• Conduct project performance reviews and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Prepare and review engineering analyses, reports, plans, and technical deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, permitting, and client requirements.
• Provide mentorship and career development guidance to engineers and project managers.
Marketing & Business Development
• Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
• Support seller-doer activities including proposal preparation and client interviews.
• Identify and track new business opportunities.
• Represent the firm positively at client meetings, industry events, and conferences.
Quality & Technical Leadership
• Ensure quality assurance and quality control practices are implemented on all assigned projects.
• Hold project teams accountable to firm quality standards.
• Provide senior-level technical review and problem-solving support.
• Manage QA/QC documentation and coordination with reviewers and subconsultants.
Who You Are:
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Architecture, Management, or related field.
• Minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in engineering or environmental consulting.
• Demonstrated experience managing large or complex municipal projects.
• Strong client-facing, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience preparing scopes, schedules, budgets, and proposals.
• Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
• Florida Professional Engineer (PE), Geologist, or Architect license.
• Extensive experience working with municipal or public-sector clients.
• Seller-doer or client account management experience.
