The Alexandria Area YMCA is looking for a dependable, motivated individual to help keep our facility clean, safe, and ready for daily programs and community activities. This is a hands-on, active role that plays a vital part in supporting members, families, athletes, and staff.
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Building & Grounds Director, you’ll take ownership of maintaining key areas of the YMCA. From daily cleaning and supply organization to identifying facility or maintenance concerns, your work helps ensure a welcoming, well-functioning environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying busy, working with their hands, and taking pride in a job well done.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform routine and deep cleaning of YMCA facilities
- Use commercial cleaning equipment and tools safely and effectively
- Maintain and organize cleaning supplies and equipment
- Monitor facility conditions and report maintenance or safety concerns
- Work independently while also supporting a team-focused environment
- Help keep spaces ready for programs, sports, and community use
What We’re Looking For:
- Reliable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented
- Comfortable with physical tasks and being on your feet throughout the day
- Ability to manage responsibilities independently
- Experience in housekeeping, custodial, maintenance, or facilities work is a plus, but not required
- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming space
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning and cleaning supplies.
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
- Be able to work with minimal supervision.
Schedule & Pay:
- Hours: 2–3 weekends per month, 8-10 hours per week
- Pay: $15–$17 per hour (based on experience)
- Flexible weekend schedule with consistency month-to-month
