Maintenance Mechanic

The Maintenance Mechanic position is responsible Industrial machinery mechanics and machinery maintenance. He or she works to maintain and repair plant equipment and other machinery, such as conveying systems, production machinery, and packaging equipment.  This position will be responsible for performing highly diversified duties to analyze, recommend, implement, troubleshoot, upgrade, improve and repair various maintenance equipment to support the tasks assigned. 

Responsibilities:

  • Systematically diagnoses equipment failures
  • Dismantles, repairs and reassembles complex equipment
  • Maintains, Installs and rearranges equipment
  • Systematically diagnoses equipment failures
  • Performs work such as fabrication, assembly, welding, burning, cutting and pipefitting
  • Provides and uses typical mechanic’s tools and inspection gages
  • Works from drawings, written check sheets, verbal instructions, or sketches
  • Safely works in overhead lifts and on overhead equipment on a routine basis
  • Routinely performs work with electricians
  • Directs work of helpers as required
  • Completes routine paperwork as required
  • Uses common shop math
  • Cleans debris and lubricant from parts, work area, and equipment
  • Operates equipment to check work as required
  • Coordinates and cooperates with Operations and other maintenance crews
  • Participates in Safety Teams and Safety Programs

Requirements:  

  • Minimum 4 years craft experience in a manufacturing environment, or equivalent is required.
  • At least a 2-year Technical Degree in Industrial Maintenance-related.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints and/or diagrams. 
  • Must be able to wear chemical resistant personal protective equipment as required by the task.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. 
  • May be required to work on a rotating 12-hour shift and fill overtime when scheduled. 
  • This position requires bending, lifting, climbing, and descending stairs and ladders, and twisting motions to be able to perform some tasks. 
  • Able to perform basic math functions.
  • Basic computer skills. 
  • Fork truck experience preferred.
