Position Summary

The Professional Manager is a responsible, professional position charged with the management and supervision of ISLs offered by Community Support Services (CSS). The Professional Manager is an active member of the CSS Leadership Team. 

Essential Functions

  • Supervise and oversee training for all Direct Support Professionals on assigned caseload.  
  • Participate as the primary member of the habilitation team for each individual on assigned caseload. 
  • Ensure all plans and strategies provided by the habilitation team are implemented with integrity. 
  • Complete all required documentation as assigned. 
  • Maintain open, positive, person centered communication with Supervisor(s) and stakeholders. 
  • Observe, report and record changes in the physical condition, behavioral response and emotional status of each individual served; prepare and/or supervise the preparation of necessary records and reports; implement, conduct and supervise planned habilitation activities
  • Provide all necessary supports while demonstrating respect and dignity of the individual served by interacting with individuals served in a positive, person centered manner. 
  • Promote community membership through community involvement
  • Responsible for being accessible via cell phone to staff to assist with all issues regarding individuals served during normal operating hours and must be available via cell phone for weekly on call duties as assigned. 
  • May assist in all necessary staffing needs 
  • Ensure all adequate supplies, including necessary forms, are at the worksite
  • Ensure overall quality of assigned program(s)
  • Must be able to transport individuals served and/or staff as needed during scheduled working hours. 
  • Perform related work as assigned

Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiatives within the limit of established policies and procedures 
  • Ability to work varied and flexible hours to cover shifts as a last means, accept and adapt to changes in assignments, methods, policies, etc
  • Thorough knowledge of basic non-professional techniques used in the care, treatment and habilitative programming for persons with developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of principles of management and supervision of personnel
  • Ability to review and make revisions to habilitative outcomes or program issues
  • Ability to supervise, review and evaluate the work of assigned personnel
  • Ability to write, implement and supervise habilitation programs designed to improve each individuals’ self-help skills, economic self-sufficiency, socialization, leisure skills, mobility, communication and personal health
  • Ability to accurately report, record observations and supervise these activities
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written direction and adapt to changes in methods and policies
  • Must be proficient at the use of a computer and familiar with the software required to perform the job related duties
  • Confidence in interaction with individuals of all ages and with a variety of disabilities
  • Ability to know and understand applied behavior analysis principles and apply them to various situations 
  • Ability to promote CARF/Missouri Certification Principles
  • Ability to ensure all contract regulations are followed

Required Education

A bachelor’s degree in a human services field from an accredited college or university in sociology, special education, rehabilitation, counseling, psychology, social work or other related human services field or must have at least five (5) years’ experience working directly with persons with developmental disabilities is required.  Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record, as well as proof of current auto insurance is required.
  • Must pass all required federal, state and agency required background checks.   
  • Obtain and maintain all required training, including but not limited to, CPI Association requirements for physical intervention, CPR, First Aid Training, Medication Administration, ABA principals and implementation techniques in accordance with CSS policy. 
  • Must maintain cell phone access for on call responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

  • All employees should possess the ability to:
  • Lift 50 pounds or more on a repeated basis as required.
  • Potentially bend, stoop, kneel, and twist repeatedly.
  • Operate any required equipment with good dexterity. 
  • Traverse changing terrain. 
  • Periodically alternate between standing, sitting, and walking.
