We are currently seeking candidates to join our exceptional team for the following position:

Job Title: Commercial Loan Specialist 
Location: Main Office

Position Summary:   Manages the proper delivery of commercial documents in the commercial loan origination process; prepares all documents from the point of commitment to the closing of a loan.  Ensures quality of loan documentation and assists with commercial loan reviews and regulatory compliance.  Interacts with commercial loan customers, closing attorneys and other bank employees, while always supporting the Bank’s mission statement “Customer Service Drives Everything We Do”.  Provides a variety of administrative support tasks to commercial lender(s) and other team members.

 

Essential Functions:

  1. Consistently provides superior professional service to internal and external customers.
  2. Consistently meets expectations of teamwork, punctuality and regular, reliable attendance. 
  3. Provides customer service to commercial loan customers and Lenders and acts as a liaison to assigned Lender(s).
  4. Self-directed workflow; effectively manages multiple loans simultaneously with timely follow up. Works with shifting deadlines and multitasks efficiently.  
  5. Possesses a thorough understanding of the Approval Memorandum, necessary to determine which documents are required and accurately reflect the terms on the documents, while maintaining legal integrity and adhering to policy.
  6. Utilizes multiple online resources to gather information on borrowers and collateral required to properly document the loan.
  7. Researches and obtains missing documentation pre and post-closing.  Works with lender to keep documentation exceptions to a minimum.
  8. Prepares closing package in conjunction with all supporting and regulatory documents for loans of assigned Lenders, including Modification Agreements and Revision of Terms.   Works with third party guarantors, such as the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Mass Business Development Corporation to ensure proper documentation is obtained and program guidelines are followed.
  9. Gathers information to complete the Commercial Loan Input Sheet for the creation of the loan on the bank’s core system.
  10. Coordinates loan funding, after ensuring that all the minimum document standards are met.   Reviews subsequent loan activity, including advances, paydowns & repricings to ensure compliance & conformity with legal, regulatory & credit policies for loan documentation.
  11. Ensures comprehensive quality control audit on all documentation supporting new and existing loans.  Any exceptions should be promptly reported and monitored for correction.
  12. Processes declined and withdrawn files in compliance with Regulation B.
  13. Creates and maintains construction loan files.  Coordinates timely receipt of property inspections and title endorsements for the processing of construction advances.
  14. Maintains proficiency in several essential programs, including Baker Hill, Medici, Insight, and Microsoft Office including Access.
  15. Participates in various meetings representing the department.
  16. Researches inquiries and provides timely resolution for customers, lenders and department management.
  17. Seeks to improve efficiency in bank processes.
  18. Deals effectively with others and function as part of a team in a fast paced, frequently changing environment.
  19. Performs all other duties as assigned, including scanning documents.

Education,   Experience, and Skills Required:

The following skills, experience, or background are necessary (with or without accommodation) for this position.

  1. High School diploma or GED is required.  College degree is desirable.
  2. 1-3 years of banking experience.
  3. Demonstrated ability to provide a high-level of customer service with a pro-active approach to problem solving the atypical situations, with good follow through.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Strong organizational skills. 
  6. Demonstrated proficiency with technology.
  7. Good analytical skills and high level of attention to detail.
  8. Ability to multi-task and reprioritize tasks throughout the day to ensure deadlines are met, often working independently.
  9. Ability to apply prior knowledge and experience to new situations-critical thinking.
  10. Commercial lending, loan documentation, loan review and regulatory compliance experience preferred.

 

Physical Demands/Conditions Requirements:
