We have an exciting new opportunity at APX Construction Group! The Commercial Facilities Service Technician / Carpenter is a hands-on role responsible for supporting commercial facilities service work, commercial construction repairs, and small project needs while also performing carpentry-related work on construction projects as assigned. This position helps ensure client facilities remain safe, functional, professional, and prepared for daily operations, special events, and ongoing business needs.


This role requires a strong customer service mindset, practical problem-solving skills, carpentry experience, and the ability to respond to changing priorities. The ideal candidate is dependable, organized, safety-focused, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team. This position must be able to work independently and efficiently, troubleshoot issues quickly, and represent the company professionally in client-facing commercial environments.

Hours and Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7am to 4pm based on business operations

Ability to travel within 90 miles radius, occasionally travel will be greater than 90 miles


Reports To: Field Operations Manager

Pay: $25-$45 Hourly, Non-Exempt, based on experience

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance, general repairs, and service work for commercial client facilities and commercial construction service needs.
  • Handles commercial service calls, repairs, punch list items, and facility-related work in a timely, professional, and customer-focused manner. 
  • Responds to facility maintenance requests, including but not limited to replacing light bulbs, repairing or adjusting doors and hardware, fixing cabinet or trim issues, completing minor wall or drywall repairs, and addressing other general facility or carpentry needs. 
  • Troubleshoots facility, repair, and construction-related issues quickly; determines the most efficient path to resolution; and identifies when subcontractor, vendor, or specialized trade support is needed. 
  • Coordinates with subcontractors, vendors, internal team members, and client contacts as needed to ensure repairs, service requests, and small projects are completed timely and professionally. 
  • Ensures contracted facilities are safe, functional, professional, and prepared for regular business operations, visitors, meetings, and special events. 
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, diagrams, and project details to determine appropriate layout, dimensions, materials, tools, and methods. 
  • Works with materials such as wood, plastic, fiberglass, drywall, and other construction-related materials. 
  • Installs, repairs, or modifies doors, windows, partitions, drywall, cabinets, stairs, trim, fixtures, and other building components as required. 
  • Performs rough carpentry, finish carpentry, repair work, and miscellaneous commercial construction service or small project support as assigned. 
  • Ensures completed work meets quality expectations, project specifications, safety requirements, and professional standards. 
  • Maintains tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in a safe, organized, and professional manner. 
  • Communicates professionally with clients, building occupants, subcontractors, vendors, project teams, field staff, and internal team members. 
  • Provides strong customer service by responding timely, following through on commitments, providing updates, and closing the loop on service requests. 
  • Works independently and efficiently while maintaining quality, safety, professionalism, and appropriate communication with leadership. 
  • Documents work performed, service updates, project status, open items, and follow-up needs. 
  • Reports project and facility status updates to the Field Operations Manager and Facilities Project Manager. 
  • Understands and follows all safety procedures and practices to prevent injury to self, coworkers, clients, building occupants, and the public.  
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support facilities service work, carpentry needs, client satisfaction, and team success.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and construction documents. 
  • Knowledge of construction-related tools, equipment, materials, and safe work practices.      
  • Strong carpentry, repair, and general maintenance skills in a commercial construction or facilities service environment. 
  • Experience handling commercial service calls, repairs, punch list items, and small project work. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues quickly, identify practical solutions, and determine when outside trade or subcontractor support is needed. 
  • Strong customer service skills and professional presence in client-facing commercial environments. 
  • Excellent communication skills, including phone, email, text messaging, and in-person updates. 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work, adapt to changing needs, and manage multiple service requests or project tasks. 
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently with limited supervision while keeping leadership informed. 
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, follow-through, and commitment to safety, quality, and professionalism.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous carpentry, construction, facilities maintenance, commercial service or related hands-on trade experience. 
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, and construction-related equipment. 
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to client facilities, jobsites, or company locations as needed. 
  • Ability to communicate professionally with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal team members. 
  • Commitment to safety, quality, customer service, and teamwork. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in commercial construction, facilities maintenance, or service-related construction work. 
  • Experience coordinating with subcontractors or vendors. 
  • Basic knowledge of building systems and facility operations. 
  • Ability to perform both rough and finish carpentry tasks.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis. Prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, and reaching are required on a daily basis.


A full range of physical motion is required to operate manual and electrically powered tools, sprayers, and construction-related equipment. The ability to move throughout buildings and jobsites, climb stairs, work from ladders or scaffolding, and perform work at varying heights is required.


Work Environment

This role involves working indoors and outdoors in a variety of facility and construction settings. The employee may work around machinery, electricity, impact tools, power tools, construction equipment, and active jobsite conditions.


The position may involve exposure to dust, noise, heat, cold, changing weather conditions, and work at heights. Appropriate personal protective equipment and safety procedures must be used at all times.
