Full-time tenure track faculty member in the Dental Hygiene program that includes didactic, clinical, laboratory, simulation instruction. Coordinates, plans, organizes, and teaches through classroom instruction and online education for selected areas of discipline. Creates and delivers engaging learning experiences for students to stimulate interest in subjects taught and to foster effective knowledge acquisition and communication. Promotes active inquiry, problem solving, digital literacy, and related decision making through the design and implementation of courses and teaching methodologies. Advises students and provides instructional support outside of class time as needed to foster student success
Position Summary
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Coordinates, plans, organizes, and teaches through classroom, lab and/or clinical instruction, simulation, and online education for the Dental Hygiene Program; teaching schedule may include courses in the day, evening, or on weekends on any College campus as assigned.
- Creates and delivers engaging learning experiences tailored to students’ learning styles to stimulate interest in subjects taught and to foster effective knowledge acquisition and communication.
- Promotes active inquiry, problem solving, information validation and related decision making through the design and implementation of courses and teaching methodologies.
- Assesses student success and learning outcomes; serves as an academic advisor and provides instructional support outside of class time as needed to foster student success.
- Participates in program and curriculum review, assessment, development and student learning outcomes initiatives.
- Recommends textbooks and other instructional materials including classroom and laboratory equipment to the Academic Department Chair; assists in the College’s library collection development by selecting, evaluating, and weeding library resources in each appropriate discipline.
- Keeps students continually informed and updated concerning feedback on their progress and work produced, course content, requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing technology and on-line management systems and simulation to enhance student learning objectives and program assessment outcomes.
- Participates in the development of the documentation for the Commission on Dental Accreditation self-study and annual reports and site visits.
- Maintains accurate and complete scholastic records and other appropriate documentation.
- Assists with the recruitment, retention and registration of students.
- Participates on various committees and in selected local, state, regional, and national professional activities and organizations.
- Maintains active involvement in the co-curricular activities of the College.
- Participates in the tenure process as defined by the faculty contract.
- Performs additional tasks or duties as assigned by the Dean of Health Professions or other designated management.
SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Master's degree in Dental Hygiene or related area required. Graduate of a CODA accredited Dental Hygiene Program.
Experience: Minimum of five years of current experience as a registered dental hygienist and teaching experience in a CODA accredited Dental Hygiene program.
Licenses: Current NJ Dental Hygiene license required. Current BLS-Healthcare Provider with AED Certification.
Other: Position will require ability to work at any of the College’s locations – Paramus, Lyndhurst and Hackensack.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrates experience utilizing technology and on-line management systems and simulation to enhance student learning objectives and program assessment outcomes
Current CODA Accreditation experience
Knowledge of competency-based education
Commitment to continuous assessment of the teaching and learning process and outcomes
Demonstrated experience with the Typhon clinical tracking software or willingness to learn
Demonstrated experience with the CANVAS learning management platform or willingness to learn
Demonstrated experience with Eaglesoft practice management software or willingness to learn
Commitment to continual professional growth and development
Current Educational Methodology as required by CODA
SALARY AND BENEFITS
- Annual Salary ranges from $65,643.64-$96,567.21
