Key Responsibilities:
- Delivery Leadership and Execution:
- Lead end-to-end project execution from initiation through closeout, partnering with business and technology leaders to deliver measurable outcomes.
- Build and manage integrated delivery plans (scope, milestones, critical path, dependencies, resourcing) across discovery, build, test, and release activities.
- Project Planning, Controls, and Governance:
- Establish delivery controls including RAID logs, decision logs, dependency tracking, and change control to protect scope and timelines.
- Run execution cadences (standups, sprint/iteration planning, backlog refinement, release readiness, and executive status reviews) with clear action items and follow-through.
- Stakeholder Management and Requirements Alignment:
- Facilitate workshops with business lines, compliance, operations, and technology stakeholders to define objectives, in-scope deliverables, assumptions, and acceptance criteria.
- Partner with business systems team/vendors to translate needs into implementable epics/stories and maintain end-to-end traceability through test and release.
- Project and Delivery Management:
- Lead end-to-end delivery planning (scope, schedule, dependencies, resourcing, and milestones) across discovery, build, test, and release activities.
- Drive execution rituals and delivery governance (backlog refinement, sprint/iteration planning, status reporting, risk/issue management, and change control) while coordinating cross-functional teams (engineering, IT, business analysts, marketing, compliance, operations, and sales).
- Program Management and Cross-Workstream Coordination:
- Own program-level planning across multiple workstreams and releases, ensuring alignment to business outcomes, regulatory timelines, and technology strategy.
- Monitor program health (schedule, scope, quality, budget where applicable, and benefits realization), escalating risks and tradeoffs with clear options and recommendations.
- Quality, Testing, and Release Readiness:
- Coordinate end-to-end testing and validation (SIT/UAT/performance/security as applicable), ensuring entry/exit criteria are met and defects are triaged to closure.
- Drive release readiness activities (cutover plans, implementation runbooks, go/no-go, communications) to ensure stable, compliant production deployments.
- Stakeholder Communication:
- Provide clear, concise status reporting and communications to technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating risks/impacts and driving timely decisions.
- Manage stakeholder forums and steering committees; coordinate with vendors, audit/compliance partners, and (as needed) regulatory stakeholders.
- Risk, Issue, and Change Management:
- Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate delivery risks; manage issues to resolution with owners, dates, and escalation paths.
- Manage scope changes through intake, impact analysis, approvals, and re-baselining to protect commitments and ensure transparency.
- Technical Acumen and Continuous Improvement:
- Partner with architects and engineers to understand solution designs, integration patterns, data flows, and non-functional requirements (security, resiliency, performance) and reflect them in delivery plans.
- Continuously improve delivery processes (templates, tooling, metrics, retrospectives) to increase predictability and speed while maintaining controls required in regulated banking environments.
Requirements
- Extensive experience with banking applications and core banking processes (e.g., Fiserv DNA, Commercial Center, Salesforce/nCinco, Pep Plus etc..).
- Strong understanding of banking technology ecosystems and operational workflows.
- Proven track record of delivering projects within regulated financial environments, including coordination with risk, audit, compliance, and information security.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in project management and/or program management delivering technology initiatives (banking/financial services preferred).
- Demonstrated success delivering complex, cross-functional initiatives involving integrations, data, security, and multiple stakeholder groups.
- Strong technical background with knowledge of software development processes, banking systems, and cybersecurity.
- Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive decisions using data, tradeoff analysis, and clear recommendations.
- Excellent cross-functional leadership skills (often without direct authority), with the ability to align teams, drive accountability, and remove blockers.
- Hands-on experience with Agile and/or Waterfall delivery methods, and proficiency with delivery tools (e.g., Jira/Azure DevOps, Confluence/SharePoint, MS Project/Smartsheet).
- Exceptional communication and executive presence, with the ability to tailor messaging for engineers, business leaders, and senior executives.
