Position Overview:
The Youth Minister will provide visionary leadership and oversight to the youth ministry, fostering an environment where young people grow in their faith, build lasting relationships, and develop leadership skills. This role requires a passionate, dynamic individual with a heart for serving youth and leading them in their spiritual journey. The leader will collaborate with volunteers, parents, and church leadership to create a thriving and supportive ministry for youth of all backgrounds. An open, flexible schedule is required, including evenings, weekends, and mandatory attendance at all youth events.
Key Job Responsibilities (to include but not limited to):
Ministry Leadership & Vision
· Develop and implement the overall vision, goals, and strategies for the youth ministry.
· Lead youth group meetings.
· Plan and execute engaging weekly programs and yearly retreats and events that facilitate spiritual growth, fellowship, and outreach.
· Meet weekly with the Pastor to ensure alignment, provide updates, and discuss youth initiatives.
· Provide regular communication with parents and parishioners to keep them informed about ministry activities and youth events.
Discipleship & Spiritual Formation
· Lead the youth groups (JMGBOL) curriculum and activities that help youth develop a deep relationship with Christ.
· Mentor and disciple youth, fostering spiritual maturity and encouraging them to use their gifts in service to the church and community.
· Organize and oversee youth-led initiatives such as outreach, service projects, and mission trips.
Team Building & Volunteer Management
· Recruit, train, and empower volunteers to serve in various roles within the youth ministry.
· Cultivate a positive, collaborative team environment with youth leaders, assistants, and other ministry volunteers.
· Provide ongoing support and development for volunteers to ensure effective ministry.
Pastoral Care & Support
· Provide guidance and counseling for youth, addressing their spiritual, emotional, and relational needs.
· Offer pastoral support to youth and their families during significant life events (e.g., baptisms, graduations, family crises).
Event Planning & Outreach
· Plan and execute special events, including retreats, camps, mission trips, and community outreach initiatives.
· Develop programs that attract unchurched youth, helping them to feel welcome and connected to the church family.
Collaboration with Church Leadership
· Work closely with the Pastor, Family Life Director, and other church leaders to align the youth ministry with the overall vision of the church.
· Attend staff meetings and participate in church-wide initiatives and events as needed.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
· A degree in ministry, theology, or a related field is preferred, though relevant experience may substitute for formal education.
· Must pass a background check in accordance with church policies.
· Previous experience in youth ministry or working with adolescents in a leadership capacity is preferred.
Competencies and Qualifications:
· Practicing Catholic in good standing; committed to the mission of the Church
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
· Sound judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality
· Ability to build authentic relationships with youth and families
· Strong planning and organizational skills; able to manage programs, events, and volunteers
· Proven ability to lead, recruit, and support volunteers
· Collaborative team player with clergy, staff, parish leadership, and the wider congregation
· Proficient with job-related technology, systems, and tools
Physical Requirements:
· Minimum Lifting: Must be able to lift 50 lbs. regularly/occasionally as needed for events
· Other Tasks: Moving tables, setting up chairs, carrying sound equipment, handling boxes of materials for events/retreats, and managing snacks.
· Physical Activity: Standing, stooping, kneeling, hiking and navigating stairs
Benefits:
· Not a benefit eligible position
· Accrual of 48 hours maximum sick time as required by Colorado State laws.
· Eligible for 403B deductions (no employer participation/match)
