Description
HyerTek is a growing federal technology consulting firm delivering secure Microsoft-based enterprise solutions, data analytics, and modernization services to government agencies. With deep expertise across Microsoft Dynamics, Power Platform, Power BI, and secure federal IT delivery, we help agencies modernize mission-critical systems and improve operational performance.
HyerTek is hiring a Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of concurrent federal engagements spanning Department of Defense (DoD) and civilian agency customers, with the majority of work in the DoD space. You will be accountable for project delivery across multiple fixed-price and time-and-materials engagements — managing scope, schedule, budget, risk, subcontractor coordination, and customer relationships from kickoff through closeout.
This is a hands-on PM role, not a coordinator role. You will run the engagements, own the customer relationship at the working level, and partner with technical leads to keep delivery on track.
Location: Candidates must be based in the Washington, DC metro area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end delivery of multiple concurrent federal engagements, with primary focus on DoD customers and a secondary portfolio of civilian agency projects.
- Own the project plan, schedule, and budget for each engagement; produce and maintain integrated master schedules, work breakdown structures, and burn-down reporting.
- Lead recurring customer status meetings, internal delivery standups, and risk review sessions; produce clear, executive-quality status reports for both customers and HyerTek leadership.
- Manage scope and change control rigorously — identify scope creep early, document impact, and work with the contracts team on modifications when warranted.
- Coordinate across architects, engineers, data specialists, and technical writers; remove blockers and protect the team's ability to focus on delivery.
- Track financial performance at the project level — labor utilization, ODCs, subcontractor invoicing, and EAC/ETC forecasting in partnership with finance.
- Manage subcontractor and prime relationships, including teaming partners on multi-vendor engagements.
- Maintain CDRL and deliverable schedules; ensure on-time, quality submission of all contractually required artifacts.
- Identify and escalate risks early; develop mitigation plans and drive them to closure.
- Support proposal efforts when appropriate — staffing plans, basis of estimate input, and past performance write-ups for future PM-led pursuits.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of project management experience, with at least 4 years managing federal IT engagements.
- Demonstrated experience managing concurrent DoD projects — direct DoD customer interaction, not just subcontractor support.
- Working command of federal contracting mechanics: FFP vs. T&M vs. cost-reimbursable, CDRLs, mods, ODCs, period-of-performance management, and invoicing cycles.
- Proven ability to manage IT delivery teams (developers, architects, data engineers) — even if you are not technical yourself, you can hold technical leads accountable to commitments.
- Strong written and verbal communication; comfortable presenting to GS-14/15 and O-5/O-6 level customers.
- Proficient with standard PM tooling: MS Project or equivalent, Azure DevOps, SharePoint/Teams, and Excel-based financial tracking.
U.S. Security Clearance Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship
- Active DoD Secret clearance (Top Secret preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- PMP certification.
- Agile/Scrum experience and certification (CSM, PSM, or SAFe).
- Experience with EVM reporting on cost-type contracts.
- Previous usage of Unanet ERP, GovDash, and SharePoint/Teams
