Description

Job Title

Ray Stone is looking for an experienced Bus Driver  to join our team. This position is part time, benefit eligible at 30 hours a week. Scheduled hours are from Monday through Friday 8:30 AM to 3 PM.

While the bus terminal is located at Roseville Commons, this position supports resident transportation in Sacramento, Carmichael, Auburn and Grass Valley.  


Job Summary

Under the direction of the Community Administrator, the Bus Driver is responsible for providing safe, courteous, and reliable transportation services for organized community events, recreational activities, and group outings. This role requires professionalism, flexibility, strong communication skills, and a resident-centered approach. The Bus Driver supports resident independence and engagement by ensuring timely and secure transportation while maintaining compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.


Job Duties:

• Safely operate community buses and vans to transport residents to scheduled outings, medical appointments, shopping trips, and special events.

• Assist residents with boarding and exiting vehicles, including accommodating mobility devices such as walkers and wheelchairs when applicable. 

• Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections, including brakes, lights, tires, emergency equipment, and cleanliness; complete daily vehicle inspection logs. 

• Maintain vehicles in a clean, safe, and operational condition; refuel vehicles as needed and promptly report maintenance or safety issues to the Maintenance Supervisor.

•  Comply with all local, state, and federal traffic laws and transportation safety regulations, including CHP and DOT requirements.

• Maintain accurate records, including mileage, fuel usage, safety inspections, incident/accident reports, and emergency logs.

• Immediately report all accidents, incidents, or emergencies to the Community Administrator and complete required documentation.

• Coordinate transportation schedules with the Community Administrator and Activities Director to support resident programs and activities.

• Provide courteous, respectful customer service to residents, families, staff, and the public at all times.

• Perform other related duties as assigned to support community operations.



Requirements:  

  • Required License: Must hold and maintain a valid Commercial Class      B Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement (as required by vehicle      capacity and California law) throughout employment.
  • Clean driving record and ability to pass      background checks and drug/alcohol screening as required by regulation.
  • Flexibility to adjust schedules and duties based      on resident and community needs.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with staff in a team-oriented      environment.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and the      ability to interact respectfully with older adults and individuals with      varying needs.

The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a bus or van during scheduled community events and outings.

• Ability to safely operate community vehicles, including the use of hands and arms to control steering, gear shifting, controls, and safety equipment.

• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and twist to conduct pre trip and post trip vehicle inspections.

• Ability to climb vehicle steps and enter/exit the bus multiple times during a shift.

• Ability to assist residents as needed with boarding and exiting the vehicle, including handling light assistance with steps, walkers, or personal items (generally up to 50 pounds).

• Ability to see and hear adequately (with or without corrective devices) to safely operate a motor vehicle, observe traffic conditions, read road signs, and respond to verbal instructions or emergency signals.

• Ability to maintain alertness and concentration for safe driving in varying traffic and weather conditions.
